WINGS WEEKEND 2005

What is the Wings Program?

The “Wings Program” is the Pilot Proficiency Award Program of the FAA. The program encourages pilots to stay current and proficient. Pilots participating in the program are required to obtain 3 hours of flight training from a certified flight instructor and attend 1 FAA sponsored seminar within a 12 month period of time. The 3 hours of flight instruction cover areas that the pilot needs individualized instruction in with emphasis on take off and landings, maneuvers, and instrument procedures. FAA seminars cover various timely topics of interest to pilots, such as weather, single pilot IFR flying, mountain flying, accident analysis, etc.

Participants that complete the program receive a “Wings Lapel Pin Award,” Certificate, and documentation that they have completed the biennial flight review requirements of FAR Part 61.

The “Wings Weekend” offer pilots an opportunity to complete all the requirements for the Wings Program in a weekend.

WEATHER MINIMUMS:

Weather minimums will be 2500 feet broken or better and visibility 4 miles or better existing and forecast.

WHAT IS WINGS WEEKEND 2005?

The Wings Weekend is an opportunity for pilots to participate in the FAA Pilot Proficiency Awards Program. Pilots taking part in the weekend will receive or complete the three hours of flight instruction required for the Wings Award. This instruction can be obtained in your own airplane or a rental plane. All flight instruction will be free of charge and given by volunteer flight instructors.

Participants in the program must also attend at least one of the various ground courses that will be presented during the weekend.

If you are not familiar with the Wings Pilot Proficiency Program, FAA Advisory Circular 61-91H describes and outlines eligibility requirements to qualify for each of the 20 Wings Phases. To qualify the pilot must posses at least a Private Pilot Certificate and a current Medical Certificate.

Successful completion of the program will serve as a BIENNIAL FLIGHT REVIEW.

Pilots completing this personal recurrent training program will be presented with a lapel pin and a certificate of completion representing the Wings Phase they have completed.
