Chair Bernadette Watson called the meeting to order at 5:07 p.m. and read the Introduction and CCA Mission Statement.
Minutes from Previous Meeting
A motion moved by Jerry Bedford, Jr. and seconded by Karen Osborne to accept the minutes from the April Board meeting. Motion passed. (Agree 4 - Oppose 0 - Abstain 1).
Director’s Report
Director Kim Neal presented 3 investigation reports to the Board. In total, these cases involved 20 officers with 31 allegations with the recommended decisions of 27 exonerated, 2 sustained, 2 unfounded. Director Neal also provided CCA’s past and future outreach schedule and CCA department updates.
Public Comment
Mr. Antoine Daniels commented regarding allegations against the CPD.
Sergeant Daniel Hills, Cincinnati FOP President, was also present. Per Captain Kimberly Williams’ direction, he provided further information regarding canine operations in reference to CCA Case Number 16150.
Old Business
Assistant City Solicitor Zach Southwood distributed information responding to the Board’s requests for legal guidance regarding the Open Meetings Act as it relates to the Board’s use of email and other communications in addition to the reasonableness of police use of deadly force.
