Six Nutrients Group Project

“Teacher for a Day”

Students will work in a group of 3-4 people and be assigned one of the nutrition subjects listed:

1.  Protein

2.  Carbohydrates

3.  Fats

4.  Vitamins

5.  Minerals

6.  Water

Groups will be responsible for teaching the class about their assigned subject. They will be responsible for completing the following:

Groups must choose three (4) different mediums to use in their presentation of their assigned topic. These include:

·  Power Point Presentation

·  Publisher Created Brochure or pamphlet

·  Informational Poster

·  Smart Board activity

·  Video advertisement

·  Actual product samples

·  Animoto

Remember, everyone in the group must share the workload! You will be grading your group member’s performance on the presentation to assure that not only one person does the work and everyone gets credit for the presentation.

As the teacher you are responsible in making sure the students have the necessary information available for them to use on the exam.

Groups must provide the students with one (1) way of retaining this information.

These include:

·  An outline

·  Notes page

·  Copy of brochure or pamphlet

Grading will be as follows:

1.  Presenting the required information – 50 points

2.  Presentation – 50 points

3.  Creativity –30 points

4.  Group Effort – 20 points

5.  4 Mediums used in the presentation 100 Points

6.  Total Presentation Points = 250

Presentation grade will be based on length of presentation, i.e. – less than 5 minutes = too short, more than 30 minutes = too long. Ideally, the presentation should last between 10 and 20 minutes to adequately answer questions and give information requested to the class.
