Changing a Uniform for Your School:

Suggested Steps to Change a Uniform for your School:

1.Inform your Retail Stockist and/or Wholesale supplier immediately about the possibility of change so Raw materials and Uniform Stocks can be reviewed, replenishment orders stopped or minimised. This is very IMPORTANT so we can minimise wastage and keep future costs down.

Stock ordering and raw materials have long lead times these days and raw materials are held in stock in some cases specifically for your school to minimise delivery times.

2. Form a Uniform Committee:

  • Parents
  • Teachers
  • School Board
  • Students (possibly)

Research supply possibilities and ideas for the uniform by consulting with ourselves on this to get ideas of design, fabrics and costs. Speak to us for our help and expertise with this and ask if there is any pre-commitment with fabrics and stock on the existing Uniform which may prolong the introduction of a new Uniform. A nominal minimum of 18 months notice is required to implement a Uniform change so stocks can be sold down, proper consultation and options explored or unless stocks are low and a mutual sooner date can sometimes be accommodated by all parties.

3. Consult on broad ideas with parents and the school community, possibly through:

  • Meetings
  • Surveys

It is our experience that once surveys or meetings are held about Uniforms then sales of any of the existing Uniform stocks cease, until a date is mentioned for the new Uniform. Hence the importance of Step one ( above) and a realistic notice time to the supplier or stockist to minimise existing stocks and implement a new school Uniform. A "Phase in Phase out" works at the school, but actually has no effect on selling down old stocks, and the best solution to reduce stocks is to keep the change date "under wraps" from the general school community for as long as possible.

4. Come up with ideas and colours and ask us as your Supplier for a couple of "rough" graphics to help with the final selection process.

5. Once a selection is made we will make up a sample for final approval.

6. Final Sign-Off: After making any changes needed, the samples would be signed off by possibly School P & C / the Principal. Orders are now placed.
