Great Depression Assignment Due Monday 5 March 2012
Name:______Group members: ______, ______
This paper must be returned with the group project.
The Project:
You and up to 2 other people (3 total) will compile a journal detailing the accounts of individuals from the Depression period. If you choose to work independently or with one other person you still must complete 3 perspectives.
The Roles:
Your group will select a total of 3 perspectives, which are listed below. You then will research the impact that the Great Depression had on your life, as that person.
Mother
Unemployed City Father
Midwest Farmer
African-American
Homeless Teenager
The Process:
You will conduct Internet research, collecting as much information as you need to be able to assume the role of that person. I have provided you with a list of some web sites you might want to check out (some may no longer be active). Of course, I also expect you to conduct some of your own research. As you conduct the research, start a collection of notes about how you were affected during the Great Depression.
The Task:
Your journal entry will be as if this person was sitting down and writing in a diary, or keeping a scrapbook, about their experiences during the Great Depression. Each perspective must have at least 2 separate entries (ranging between 75-200 words each).
Hints:
This is to be done in first person. You are to give your character a name, age, place of origin, etc. The more detail the better. Please make sure your hand-writing is legible and the content is readable. *** Create a work cited page MLA (do your best)
Lastly, you will be expected to keep up with the content from chapter 15 (i.e. this is not the only thing we are doing for the next week plus)
0 3 / 7 10 / 12 15Content / The accounts were too vague and made less than 3 specific references to the time period and / or are not authentic to the time period (historically inaccurate). / The accounts were general (between 4 and 6 references) and or not fully historically accurate (between 2-4 historical inaccuracies) / The accounts were very detailed > 7 references that were fully accurate and < 2 historical inaccuracies.
