2016-2017 NJUSAG UPDATE #1
Dear coaches and club administrators,
As you know, we have many new changes to our program for the new quadrennial. The 2016-2020 Age Group Manuals can be purchased on the USA Gymnastics website. There have also been modifications to the original documents.
MAJOR CHANGES:
Determining Competitive Age:A gymnast’s competitive age throughout the entire competitive season is determined by the age he will be on May 31 of the current competitive season. For example, for all competitions this season, a gymnast’s competitive age is determined by his age as of May 31, 2017. A gymnast under the actual age of 6 may not compete.
Division 1 and 2 for Level 4-7:You will need to decide which division to register your Level 4-7 gymnasts. The basic reasoning behind this split is to separate the gymnasts who are just starting or just moving up a level and cannot perform the bonus skills from the gymnasts who are more experienced and stronger who can do the bonus skills. It may get a little complicated but you can change divisions up to the entry deadline for states. Grouping the sessions for our locals and States will depend on the number of D1 and D2 that we have registered. If the numbers work out it would be ideal have sessions of all Division 2 (mixing levels) and different sessions with all Division 1(mixing levels).
Junior Development Level:The JD level was added to give gymnasts who are not ready to jump up to JO level 8, 9, or 10 a chance to develop and still compete. It is also a good division for gymnasts who do not want to do all around. It is easier than JO because there are no special event requirements. I would like to have JD sessions at our Locals when possible. We will come up with a regional score for event specialists.
Local Meets: The entry fee for local meets this year will be $50.00 per gymnast. You will need to enter 3 out of 4 to qualify for states.

Local 1: Dec 10-11 Premier Gymnastics
Local 2: Jan 28-29 Starbound Gymnastics
Local 3: Feb 11-12 or 25-26 TBA
Local 4: March 4-5 Premier Gymnastics
States:March 18-19 Bloomfield High School
Regionals: April 6-9 Brookdale Community College, NJ
