Don't Say It with Flowers
Frank Heinisch's wife, Sandy, a nurse for 34 years, has developed a unique method of helping people work through loss. Her grief counseling sessions have aided hundreds of people on that journey no one wants to take.
Many of her clients have requested copies of the material that successfully melds various types of loss with original poetry. A year and a half in the making, she has authored a book with her partner, David Nicoll, titled “Lights for Dark Places”.
This hard bound book with photos on glossy paper provides narratives and original poetry plus a CD with 25 original poems recited by David in his soothing British voice. It is not available at any bookstore but can be obtained by going to
People often don’t know what to say to someonesuffering a loss. They usually end up sending flowers. Be different and send them a book like “Lights for Dark Places”. A book will have more meaning and last much longer than flowers, not to mention being more economical.

"Lynne Holmstrom"
This has been a rough week for us here. I went to the Bay area on Monday. Well, I called home at 8:30PM to see how things were going here at home and Lynne's Mom answered the phone which she never does. She said she was worried because Lynne went outside before 5:00PM and had not come back to feed the dogs and it was getting dark. She then told me that she had called 911 and the sheriff was out looking for her. At about quarter to nine the sheriff called me and said they had found Lynn in the pasture and she had fallen from an 18 food ladder trying to change the flood night light.
To make a long story short they air lifted her to Medford Providence Medical Hospital and she had crushed the bones around her left eye, fractures to both upper and lower jaw bones, had two bleeds on the brain, had a torn liver and a broken left arm.
She is still in ICU but is doing much better the bleeds have stopped and she is now able to open her eye and squeeze my hand when I talk to her. They operated on her arm and put in a plate yesterday. They do not know if they will need to do surgery on her face until the swelling goes down.
I will keep you informed.
Danny:
Lynne is still in the hospital in Medford Oregon but was moved into a regular medical care room this Wednesday. She wasin CCU for 9 days. All indications show that she is making great improvements. They have been able toremove the breathing tube and the neck brace. The fracture to the C7 vertebra was to one of the boney fins and did not pose any danger to the spinal cord once all the swelling went down. She is now on a feeding tube until she gets to the point that she can swallow without choking. Thus far she can only take a couple teaspoons of water at a time. They are also starting therapy on her arm and her sitting. It maybe another week or more before she comes home with a long recovery to follow. I am making the trip up there every day to be with her.
Please pass this along to any others that you know of that Lynne knows.
Thank You
Danny
Sorry it has been so long. I just cannot seem to keep up. Lynne is doing much better. She was transferred to Linda Vista Rehab in Ashland Oregon to receive therapy I am guessing that this will be about a month maybe a little longer. She will have to have physical and speech therapy as she is not yet able to stand and walk on her own and she has a problem concentrating on a subject if there are any distractions, as well as she has to take a bit of time to think of what it is she wants to say or forgets the word to use. This is very frustrating to her and she gets upset easily. However, I do expect her to make a full recovery it will just be a long road to follow depending on how much she can handle in each session.
We did get a card from the Pioneers and are very appreciative for all the thoughts and prayers for our friends.
Take care and I will try and keep you up to date. If you have anyone's email that may be interested please forward this to them for me.

We have some extremely sad news. We just learned that John Redding is very seriously ill.
We got the first report of this from Tom LaCorte on Wednesday of this week, who heard about it in a phone call from Jake Ikeda. Yesterday afternoon we called and talked to Mary to hear first-hand what she had to say.
As we understand it from Mary:
In June, John began having very bad headaches and went to the hospital. They ran all sorts of tests and diagnosed a brain tumor and also a tumor in his stomach. But then he came down with a rare form of pneumonia -- according to Mary, there have been only 4 or 5 recorded cases of this strain of pneumonia.
He was in the hospital for five weeks, during which time they tried all sorts of treatment and medicine for the pneumonia, to no avail. John is now at home. Apparently there is nothing right now that they can do for him.
Mary says that he is able to eat a little, and get around the house somewhat, but has trouble talking because it makes him start to cough. We asked if we could come to visit, and she said, "Maybe not right now, but I'll talk to John and ask him." Lee said that he would like to talk to John by phone
someday, if John is up to that. Mary said she would let us know about that too. Mary's sister had just arrived (from Minnesota, we think), and we think John's son, Wesley, is staying at their house right now too.
Mary said that John would appreciate receiving cards and notes. Their address is:

We will let you know as soon as we hear anything more...Lee and Veryl

Mike Kinsch passed away on 9-20-11 in the hospital at age 90. He was rear ended in a car accident I believe on highway 101 last week. I have seen no announcement yet in the San Jose Mercury Newspaper. He lived in Saratoga, CA. Mike was a Western Electric Senior Engineer in Chicago, Burlingame and Sunnyvale.Arrangements under the direction of Oak Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park, San Jose, CA.
Kevin and Amy,
I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your dad. I first met him on the engineering floor at Western Electric when I found out your dad worked at the same place as I did at the time. Although I didn't know him well, the few times I saw him through the years he was always warm and friendly to me. My thoughts are with you. Love, Marlene
