PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL - September 9th & 10th

Presider:

If two of us agree on earth about anything for which we are to pray, it shall be granted to us by our heavenly Father. So let us pray for all who are in need… as we cry out, Lord hear our prayer...

Lector:

1.  That our Church might be an example of reconciling love for all the world as we strive to heal the differences that arise among ourselves…

For all who continue to suffer in the aftermath of the 9-11 attacks sixteen years ago, for all who lost their lives on that day and afterward, in our nation and abroad, as a result of those attacks, and for renewed resolve to work toward peace in our world...

For firefighters, police of officers, and all first responders who put their lives at risk to protect us…

For the safety and security of all those who are suffering as a result of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, and the earthquake in Mexico…for all those who make sacrifices to help these victims: the first responders risking their lives as well as everyday heroes… For the protection and safety of all those who are still in danger or missing …

and for all who seek the comfort of God’s healing word; and for the intentions in our parish book ...We pray.

2.  For our brothers and sisters who are ill:

Virginia Hodges, Lucia Rodriguez, Carmen Rodriguez, Pamela V. White, Olga Hidalgo, Monseratte Pietri, Cleo DeNoia, Amelia Silvestro, William Florian, Amelia Jalandoni, Mary Sullivan, Laura Moore Brown, Marguerite LaMarque, Bob Cerf, John Palazza and all those wounded in the service of our country, that they be patient in their time of suffering and soon come to the fullness of health.... we pray....

3. For those dear to us who have died, whose memories are with us at this time, especially,

Sat. 5:30 pm Daniel Seso

Sun. 8:30am John Simpson

10:00am Cresencia Toy, Vicente & Jesus Santa Ana

12:30pm Esteban Palomino & Paulina Garay

5:30 pm Tomas & Visitacion Baquiran

(For whom this mass is offered)

Carmen Nieves, Patria Zaldavar Lee who died during this past week…

Daniel O’Day whose anniversary of death is celebrated this week…

Those tragically killed by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, the earthquake in Mexico and those who lost their lives through violence across our nation …and all the victims of war and terrorism (PAUSE) that they may rest forever in the embrace of the one true God, we pray....

4. And let us pause now to present our own personal petitions...(PAUSE ....count to 10)...... We are still a nation at war, let us pray for our president, and all our elected officials, the members of our diplomatic corps (core) and all those who serve our country in our uniformed services..... may their efforts for peace and justice be fruitful;..... together, let us raise our voices in a prayer for true and lasting peace......

the words are found on the back cover of the hymnal...

Presider:
God of love,
in Jesus you showed us
the love that does no evil to our neighbor.
Grant us the grace to love as he did,
and hear all these our prayers
through the same Christ our Lord.
