WARNING ORDER 01- 08 (Range Support)

I. MISSION. 1/355th will conduct range operations to support 149th Avn Regt’s annual weapons qualification/familiarization training at Camp Maxey, in Powderly, TX on 4 Aug 01.

Commander's Intent: (for the OPORD)

II. EXECUTION.

A. CONCEPT OF THE OPERATION.

1. 1/355th will be airlifted by CH-47 aircraft from 149th Avn Regt, located on the west side of Navy Dallas, to Powderly, TX training area on 4 Aug 01 and flown back to Navy Dallas upon completion of range operations, times TBD. approximately 1800 hrs on 4 Aug 01.

2. There will be 5 4 ranges/stations run simultaneously.

3. Bravo Battery will have incorporate a detachment of 4 personnel from Charlie Battery and 1 person from Alpha Battery to assist in range operations.

4. Range layout and taskings.

a. M-16 Zero & Qualification.

(1) Alpha Battery will run the Qualification Range with 9 personnel, [1 OIC, 1 Range Safety Officer, 5 Range Safeties, 2 Control Tower Operators].

(2) Charlie Battery will run the Zero Range with 9 personnel, [1 OIC, 1 Range Safety Officer, 5 Range Safeties, 2 Control Tower Operators].

(3) Bravo Battery will run conduct RTR with 4 personnel.

b. 9mm Qualification.

(1) Bravo Battery will run the Qualification Range with 6 3 personnel, [1 OIC,

1 RSO, 12 RS/1, 2 CTO]

c. M-60 Familiarization.

(1) Bravo Battery will run the Familiarization Range with 6 personnel, [1 OIC, 1 RSO, 2 RS, 2 CTO].

5. There will be 175 - 225 personnel firing. Approximately 60 will fire 9mm, 20 on M-60 and 115+ on M-16.

6. Firing Points.

a. M-16 qualification and zero ranges have 20 firing points each.

b. 9mm has 10 firing points.

c. M-60 has 5 firing points.

7. All M16 and M9 ranges will be run IAW FM 23-9 (M16A1 AND M16A2 RIFLE MARKSMANSHIP, 03 JUL 1989) and there will be one at each site.

III. SERVICE SUPPORT.

A. Alpha Battery will draw MREs for all personnel and pass them out at the range.

B. Alpha Battery 149th Avn Bn will provide range safety paddles for all Range Safeties.

C. Alpha Battery 149th Avn Bn will provide rods to rod weapons on M-16 ranges.

D. Uniform.

1. Drill Sergeants. BDUs and campaign hat., LBE and Kevlar (with ear plug case).

2. Officers. BDUs and patrol cap (soft cap)., LBE and Kevlar (with ear plug case).

V. TIME OF OPORD.
