Dear Parents,

Every Day 1 your child will be bringing home a list of fifteen new spelling words and a spelling homework packet. There will be five words that are common sight words and 10 words that follow the particular pattern of the week. We will be doing activities with these words and patterns during the week as well. It will always look like the one that is attached to this letter. This letter will be attached to the homework packet for a few weeks until we get used to the routine. After that, we will just be sending the packet without the letter.

The purpose of this homework is to have the students practice their new words at home every day in a different way and we encourage you to help them with this. Points are given for completing and returning the packet so please help your child complete this each week. Each day there is a short skill page used to practice their words. It’s important to practice these words every day so they become mastered, please make sure your child is only completing one page per night.

Please sign and return the completed homework every Day 6. They will have an assessment at that time. If your child is absent on Day 6, please return the homework when they return to class and they will have their assessment then. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
