Subject: Breakfast during CSAP

The importance of breakfast and cognitive learning is well documented. The Department of Food and Nutrition Services would like to help by providing a FREE breakfast for all students at your school on CSAP test days (no make-up days). If you want your school to participate in this program, all you need to do is notify the kitchen manager by Friday January 21, 2005. Give the kitchen manager your school’s CSAP test dates and the estimated number of students who will participate. If we do not hear from you by the date mentioned above we will not be able to provide your school this great opportunity.

1.  For schools that are currently providing a school breakfast each morning: The food service will extend the breakfast serving time to better serve the increased number of children by starting 15 minutes earlier, and ending 15 minutes later. Rosters will be used to check each child as they obtain a breakfast. The computer system will not be used during this special breakfast time. The menus will be our normal breakfast menu and is posted on our web page.

2.  For schools that are NOT currently providing a school breakfast: Food and Nutrition Services will be offering a limited menu (you can get a copy of the menu from the kitchen manager) for students to obtain a free breakfast in the cafeteria on CSAP testing dates. Please notify the kitchen manager or area supervisor if you are interested in participating.
