Seminar Prospecting

Cesar Noya’s Script and Tips

Bullet points to use when canvassing or cold calling on local Federal Agencies

Enter the building and look for an information desk, a security officer or a receptionist.

Introduce yourself as a federal contractor and ask if there is a manager you can speak with.

You can also use the following:

“We provide seminars for federal employees across the country provide educational seminars covering FERS/CSRS, TSP, Retirement, Pensions and FEHB. Do you know who might be able to give information to set up a seminar for you and your coworkers?”

When you meet with the right person, introduce yourself and then use the following phrases:

·  “As you may remember, you had an orientation through HRO when you were first hired. Government Employee Benefits is contracted to provide new hire, mid-career and pre-retiree seminars for Federal Employees.”

·  “Has your HRO provided any CSRS/FERS seminars for you or your coworkers since you were hired?”

·  “GEB has been providing seminars for the Navy and now we are expanding to other Federal Agencies.”

·  “As you know, many Federal Agencies are under budget constraints and that can limit seminar enrollment to employees that are within 5 years of retirement, however, we want to make sure that everybody has the opportunity to have access to this information.”

·  “Our most common response we get is that federal employees wished they had known more about their benefits 5-10 years sooner.”

·  “We normally charge for doing these seminars, but because of all the budget cuts, we are willing to waive our fees and provide the first few seminars for free with the idea that once the budget concerns turn around, you would consider using us as your primary source for seminars.”

·  From there you can cover the materials in the seminar prospecting kit: Almanac ad, brochure, supporting materials, seminar workbook, etc…

·  “Let’s work together and give your agency/department/employees the opportunity to take advantage of this free class.”

·  “We can provide these seminars on-site if you have a room or we can have it off-site at a local hotel.”

·  “We understand that it is not always feasible or efficient to send out mass emails using the agency email’s system, however, we would ask for your help in promoting the seminar so everyone knows about it and can take advantage of it.”

·  “You can also visit our website for more information.”
