BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The vision of the Barnabas Foundation for the needy was born some two years ago, from the mother Vision - The National Gospel Arts, and Entertainment Industry. NAGAG, a divine mandate to raise an army of unstoppable educated righteous generation, for "righteousness is the only rescue for the world today but sin is a reproach", the Bible says.
Sierra Leone currently has an estimated population of 5.6 million. It has a young population with over 40% being less than 15 years of age- an adolescent society. Adolescence (age 15 -24 years) make up 17 .4% of the total population. The female adolescent population account for more than 1/3 of the total population and in recent years there has been a preponderance of females in the general population. The "informed" know this trend is true almost everywhere. Hence there is need for Fathers and Spirit of Fatherland and Godliness the world over.
Considering the deteriorating trend of events in Sierra Leone from independent (1961) to date, gravitated by the venom blows of the 11 years ruthless and bloody rebel war had its toll on helpless humanity, especially children and women leaving many homeless, helpless and naked and hungry and angry.
The rebel war spread its flames to every nook and cranny of the country and was reported to be the most ruthless carnage women and children and a nation has faced in modern history.
Upon that note, the National Gospel Arts Group (NAGAG) was formed with membership across 27 different Christian and non-Christian organizations under a unified umbrella despite, geographical, cultural and ethnic diversities or belief; - Muslims were also allowed to come - today, all tongue - talkers (Acts 1: 8).
The vision of NAGAG entertainment Arts (Music and Drama) is the arm of generating funds for the sustenance of her vision- child and end time commission
"The Barnabas Foundation for Educating the Needy", in the promotion of righteousness, human dignity (Gal. 3: 13) and sustainable development, protection of a ‘Clean Environment and total human equality, (elimination of racism) and woman and child empowerment. Welcome to the world of NAGAG and the Barnabas Foundation where creativity, excellent mentality and Godliness and holiness with joy, makes the difference.
OPENING THE HEART OF THE VISION-BARNABAS FOUNDATION
The vision of the 21st century in many nations is Education! For the Bible says in the last days, knowledge shall increase. The problem of the African continent is not necessarily poverty, but ignorance! Many Africans are plagued with inferiority complex. Their sole aim in life is to carbon-copy the "first world" man, and many governments in Africa live on hand-outs from donors. Consequently, many Africans have been trained to believe that fortune can be obtained from lands or "greener pastures". Against this background, the Barnabas Foundation for Educating the needy shall focus on the following: -
To promote education for the Needy, globally, especially Africans.
To identify, develop, and promote the artistic, spiritual and moral creative abilities of Africans scattered all over the world.
To improve and uplift the universal self-esteem of humanity, especially Africans the world over.
The Barnabas Foundation for educating the Needy is for the purpose of forming a non-governmental, non-political, non-ethnical, non-racial, non-partisan but rather a Christian and social, educational, evangelistic, humanitarian, talent development and promotion, Guidance Counselling, conflict resolution, charitable and donor organization gearing towards the promotion of African creative mentality, alleviation of trauma, rehabilitation of the mind, self-reliance and (total education of the spirit, soul and body in promotion of humanitarianism to humanity) do hereby acknowledge and adopt the following articles to wit:
The name of the Organization shall be called "BARNABAS FOUNDATION FOR THE NEEDY".
The motto of the organization shall be: Possessing the world Again with the Miss-no-target of Christ’s love (Jn3:16).
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
That the aims and objectives of the organization is to carry out benevolent charitable Christian activities as Biblically required of God in the Holy Bible in collaboration with the laws of the Republic of Sierra Leone. The specific purpose for which the organization exists shall include the following:--
To provide education for the needy
To enhance quality education in Africa, first Sierra Leone and the world at large.
To provide a channel of communication and partnership between Christian Gospel educators learning institutions (both formal and informal) Christian ministries, Gospel artists (fine arts and music), all over the world.
Winning souls for Jesus Christ
To provide a forum of African thinking machines or creative intellectual or think-tanks geared towards the universal dignity of the Africans most importantly providing a humanitarian aid to humanity.
To locate, develop, and promote the artistic, spiritual and moral creative abilities of Africans, the world over.
To initiate and facilitate a Christian Gospel College of end time African discoveries in diverse fields of learning.
To initiate, facilitate and coordinate Christian Gospel students, educators and artists’ exchange programmes in diverse fields of human and social endeavors.
To prepare the end time Church for the return of the supreme King Jesus Christ.
To preach morality, righteousness, total salvation and redemption in Christ through theatrics, and holy mental dynamics via (NAGAG) the National Gospel Arts Group and film industry.
To give the Bible the status it deserves before the eyes and the hearts of men - black and white alike - so all men can forgive and live as one before God.
To publish books, produce movies and audios geared towards soul winning and the Ministry of Love - Christ’s love, and restoration of universal human dignity for all races and the re-establishing of morals and sanity in educational systems and societies and families the world over.
To fight against and displace the spirit of racism via the preaching of the word of love (1 Cor.13).
Hoping to build new kinds of learning institutions across Africa, starting with Sierra Leone - Talent Development Institution to develop and explore multi-cultural developmental skills towards global sustainable development - and not merely to produce academicians with big certificates but yet with inferiority and beggarly complex. This must stop if Africa is ever to see a change.
NOTE: Education is not certification. This has been the mistake of the African Continent and our leaders. Education, by Leonis Golley-Morgan’s definition is; "self-empowerment for self-reliance to produce a cultured responsible personality that will contribute to society rather than demanding from society"- it is not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country (John F. Kennedy - former President of the United State of America.
MISSION STATEMENT
The vision of the Barnabas Foundation for the Needy via NAGAG and other avenues as given to Bro. Leonis David Olabamidele Golley-Morgan by God is to raise an unstoppable global army of educated people standing for righteousness; for righteousness exalts a nation (Africa) but sin is a reproach to the people (Holy Bible) - why Africa? Because it holds and will control the world’s shattering economy this end time. In no wise are we preaching racism, for the Bible says "Though we are many, (black and white) we are one body - God’s people.
JUSTIFICATION FOR THE PROJECT
For long, Africa, the second largest continent on planet earth, with an estimated popuplation of 313,000,000 people have for too long been plagued with unlogical poverty. Unlogical because of all continents of the earth, it is a "sun-light fact" that Africa has the greatest human and economic resource potential. This is not a hypothesis, but a fact - provable by the central mid-field position occupied by blacks, even in what is known as God’s own country - the United States of America.
Africa, from the Arab north to the southernmost tip, is a mosaic of possibilities. North Africa culturally belongs to the Middle East and is separated from the rest of the continent by the great Sahara Desert. Incredible as it seems, seventeen hundred languages are spoken in sub-Saharan Africa. (Ref. IN AN ARTICLE, "AFRICA SHALL BE SAVED (Acts 16:31)" JOINTLY WRITTEN BY KAYODE O. OLADIPUPO AND LEONIS D.O. GOLLEY-MORGAN THE AUTHORS WROTE:
Africa’s development and poverty reduction is the primary responsibility of African nations. The lackadaisical attitude and slave mentality of running to the Western World will not improve the condition of Africa or Africans, neither will our fingers of accusation on our leaders yield any bountiful fruit of success. We must learn to accept responsibilities and come out from our games of passing the baskets or following "the ministry of accuser of the brethren".
My outcry and questions on daily basis are:
How could a land so rich in both human and material resources remain under-developed?
What could be done to abdicate the parading plague of poverty in African continent?
When would the proverbial statement "Dark Continent of Africa" be translated to "Bright Continent of Africa"?
My great African people, we must realize that there lies dying untapped potentials within us, which must be awakened, for the uprising the The African Economy, and Africans scattered all over the world. The wealthiest men in history right from bible days have been men with ideas and talents, or in Myles Munroe’s words - "hidden potentials" -Ref: Understanding Your Potential - by Myles Munroe.
As it took Europeans to develop Europe, so it will take Africans to develop Africa. This is out time! Let’s arise!! God is with!!! God is for us!!!! And none can be against us!!!!! Except Ourselves!!!!!!
"Some are born great"
"Some achieve greatness"
"And some have greatness thrust upon them"
the rottenness of black race poverty is encapsulated within the above statement.
My African people must be enlightened and awakened from their lazy slumber to know that the greatnes of any man in this world is the ability of putting his MIND to work - that, African people have neglected to develop! Therefore, the WORKING MIND is the utmost priority for GREATNESS.
Remember, your vision is your currency for tomorrow’s staggering economy". Against this background, with tearful penmanship is this divine and timely orchestrated vision and project launched into the deep! How wise to act like Peter - "Lord, we have toiled all night and have caught nothing (and night is the best time for fishing - human intellectual knowledge), how dare you tell us to fish in the day time? Nevertheless at thy word we will cast down our net - and it was a might catch - a booming economy - simply by obeying the words of authority from the Master - Jesus Christ. This vision is made plain before you. We need partners in prayers and finances for this dream to come true - remember, you are doing it as your service to suffering humanity and he that giveth to the poor lendeth unto the Lord. Also, the bible says, to him that knoweth to do good and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
PROGRAMME AND ACTIVITIES
The following programmes are envisaged:
Awarding scholarship and support to the less privileged, for street boys and girls for formal and non-formal education pursuits in the eradication of poverty, youth and women empowerment, leadership, education and self-employment.
Operating skills training centers for exploitation and maximization of potentials.
Sensitization through radio, television programmes and the print media (Newspapers, brochures, magazines - via Drama, music, choreography, fine arts and film production and other campaigns including guideline and counseling in schools and Universities and for street boys and girls. (Chief purpose is to have them learn something to do with their hands and make a living).
Networking with educational institutions (schools, colleges, tertiary and vocational institute).
Networking with various N.G.O’s and C.B.O’s at all levels with similar interests. Organize participate in workshops, conference lectures for mass media campaigns, discussions on guidance, counseling and conflict resolution, carnivals, international musical concert, academic and social development, and public speaking.
Resource mobilization, fund raising events, production and marketing of the publication of musical and movie productions and books, technical assistance, resource materials and any other form of assistance from agencies, corporate bodies, foundations, governmental aids, memberships contributions, trustee, special advisers, matrons, patrons philanthropists etc.
Running a Christian Guidance and counseling unit headed by Masters Degree holders in guidance and counseling.
Running Christian schools and Tertiary institutions (Training colleges for skills and talent maximization and Mass media communication).
Entertainment industry, Christian newspaper and Radio Drama via our drama arm NAGAG.
