Mobilize

The “Mobilize” section consists of five paragraphs, each no more than four lines. Yes, you’ll have to be succinct. The point of the Mobilize section is to help me understand the change and why it’s happening..

Context

In the Context paragraph, please give a little background

Compelling Threat

What bad things will happen if the change does not transpire?

Compelling Vision

What is the wonderful intended RESULT of your change efforts? Please do not confuse this paragraph with the following one.

Tangible Change

Sometimes called the “hard change,” this is what, physically will be changing.

Transformational Change

The “Transformational Change” is the way you want people to behave/think/feel differently), and why they might resist.

Diagnosis & Design

Just fill in the blanks of the table below. You may find it useful to first spread nine pieces of paper out on a table, and do a brainstorm. Remember to use the diagnostic questions given in the class manual – they will help you think through your barriers and enablers under each transformational perspective.

Then come back to this template and fill it in with your most salient enablers and barriers – no more than TWO each, for each Lever. Then, each enabler or barrier should result in ONE task.

Make those tasks EXTREMELY specific. For each, be able to answer the question: “How will the assigned individual know when the work is done?” If you can’t answer that precisely, then you haven’t got it right yet.

In real life, you may end up with more enabler, barriers, and task assignments than this assignment calls for. Or fewer. But recall the 80/20 principle: you’ll get more oomph from your handful of most-important items than you will with all the rest.
