*Required Materials:

-three ring binder

-pencil or pen (never red)

- graph paper

- notebook paper (always have something to take notes on)

Bring all materials to class EVERYDAY unless otherwise instructed. Students who come to class without one or more of the required materials must return to their locker and will receive a tardy for that day. Never assume you can use ANYTHING in the room, this is not my room and not my material.

*Tardies: BE ON TIME. Students must be in the classroom before the bell rings to begin class. All students must be in the seat that is assigned to them. The first tardy will serve as a warning. For each additional tardy, the student will receive a discipline referral.

*Starting Class: A “bell ringer” will be placed on the board at the beginning of each class. This will take the form of an ACT question, a trivia question, or a review of the previous day’s material. Following the bell ringer, students are instructed to get out their notes, assignments, etc. needed for class that day. Whenever I talk you are to listen.

Raise your hand, wait to be acknowledged. Be responsible and respectful.

*Ending Class: You will be in your assigned seats before the bell rings and I will dismiss you. You will NOT be allowed to congregate around the door or other areas to wait for the bell.

*Hall Passes: Hall passes will be given out at the discretion of the teacher.

*Food and Drinks: Drinks (within reason) are permitted in the classroom. I reserve the right to revoke this privilege at any time if it is abused. Food and GUM are not allowed in class.

*Cell Phones: In accordance with school policy, cell phones may not be used in the classroom. Visible or audible cell phones will be confiscated and a discipline referral will be turned in to the office.

*Homework: You will have homework every day. Homework will be either checked or collected at the beginning of each class period. Late homework will not be accepted.

*Class work: Students are expected to work on in-class assignments during class time each day.

*Make-up work: The activities for each class will be posted in a designated spot of the classroom. If you are absent, it is YOUR responsibility to obtain the missing assignment or notes and/or schedule a make-up test. Assignments and tests must be made up within three days of the absence. Assignments cannot be made up for absences that are unexcused.

*Grading Policy: 40% of your grade will come from daily work and participation; 60% will come from tests and quizzes. You will take a cumulative final exam at the end of the trimester.

End of course assessment – 20%

*Notification of Grades: After each test, I will give you your updated grade. Parents and students are encouraged to use the parent portal on Infinite Campus to track grades as well.

*ESS: Extra help is available in the mornings and afternoons through the Extended School Services program. Students who need additional help or who need to make up tests or assignments are encouraged to attend ESS.

*If you have trouble understanding a concept or assignment, please ask me for help. You are responsible for your learning. Do not let yourself fall behind. I expect you to work hard and try your best.

*Student Handbook: It is the responsibility of each student to be familiar with the school handbook. Rules and policies specified in the handbook will be followed and enforced in the classroom at ALL times.

*Consequences: If a student is unwilling to follow the expectations of the classroom, he or she is subject to appropriate penalties. Possible consequences include: verbal warning, conference with teacher, phone call and/or conference with parent, discipline referral to office.

** These policies may be modified or added to as the need arises during the trimester.
