Science at Trinity

The Science Department at Trinity is one of the more successful departments in the school. We offer a full range of courses including the NQF Btec Level 2 in Applied Science, QCF Btec Level 3 in Applied Science (Forensics), GCSEs in Science, Additional Science and Separate Sciences and of course the three sciences at A level.

The Science Department is led by Ian Wood and assisted by two subject managers of Biology and Chemistry as well as a Key Stage 3 co-ordinator.

The Science Department consists of16 teaching staff (2 of whom are part time) along with fourfull time technicians who help service the twelve laboratories across two sites.

The Department has excellent links with our feeder primary schools and our 6th formers deliver a series of entertaining and activity driven sessions to each school over the course of the year in conjunction with the Ogden Foundation with whom we have very strong links. The school is an Ogden Trust Hub School for the city and organises regular physics based events for schools in the city.We run an annual 6th form trip to CERN and have productive links with both universities here in Nottingham.

The uptake of Science in the sixth form is extremely high. Our current Yr11 cohort expected to return is 120 strong.
