TSIRCO-STRONGS T.I.B.

Industrial Flooring Aggregate

Product: Specially designed for blending with cement for dry sprinkle method application over freshly cast concrete floor slabs to form a toughened surface suitable for most industrial floors.

Composition: A non-oxidising, non-metallic refractory aggregate with iron like qualities specially graded between 0,2 to 1,9mm.

Purpose: When blended with cement and trowelled into the surface of freshly cast concrete floors, it forms a toughened hard-wearing surface suitable for industrial use.

Usage:

A.  3kg of Tsirco-Strongs T.I.B. plus 1,5kg of O.P. Cement per m2 are required for light to medium duty flooring.

B.  5kg of Tsirco-Strongs T.I.B. plus 2,5kg of O.P. Cement per m2 are required for medium to heavy-duty flooring.

The mix is broadcast evenly over the surface of the freshly laid concrete and trowelled in to give a smooth finish.

Pack: 25 and 50kg multiwall paper sacks.

Advantages/ Properties:

Tsirco-Strongs T.I.B provides a floor with the following advantages:

v  Hard wearing surface.

v  Non-dusting.

v  Abrasion resistant.

v  Impact resistant.

v  Non-oxidising, non-metallic.

v  Easy to clean.

v  Maintenance free, long lasting.

v  Increased resistance to the penetration of oils, fats and other industrial wastes.

v  Cost efficient.

The Tsirco-Strongs T.I.B. Process: TSIRCO-STRONGS T.I.B. is a blend of non-oxidising aggregates and other ingredients, which are factory processed. It has high resistance to abrasive wear and impact. The material is mixed with cement and broadcast evenly over the surface of the freshly laid concrete at the rate of 4,5-7,5kg/m2 and then trowelled to a uniform and smooth finish. For dustproofing of the floor, Tsirco-Dustop 16 surface hardener should be applied to the finished surface. This reacts with the free lime in the cement matrix which binds the aggregates to form hard stable compounds, thereby improving still further the durability and wearing qualities of the floor. For a heavy chemically-used floor, the application of Tsirco-Res 173 is recommended on the finished floor.

The Tsirco-Strongs T.I.B. – Application Procedure

1. Base Concrete

The base concrete should have a minimum cement content of 300kg/m3. The water/cement ratio should be kept to the minimum (0,35-0,50) with the need to produce a fully compacted concrete without excess water coming to the surface. The range of concrete additives manufactured by Tsircon of the Tsirco-Flo series can be incorporated into the mix to improve the above properties.

2. Base Concrete Laying

The base concrete shall be placed in accordance with good concrete practices. Particular care must be taken at the corners and edges of the bays, hand ramming and firm trowelling being carried out to ensure that the level can be maintained throughout the subsequent trowelling operations. Should free water be present at the surface, this should be removed or allowed to evaporate before the application of Tsirco-Strongs t.i.b. For subsequent bays the water cement ratio of the concrete should be reduced to prevent the recurrency of free water.

3. Producing the Tsirco-Strongs t.i.b. premix

100kg of Tsirco-Strongs t.i.b and one bag of o.p. Cement (50kg) should be thoroughly dry mixed on a clean flat surface. Do not add any water.

4. Application of the prepared Tsirco-Strongs premix

Broadcast the dry prepared Tsirco-Strongs t.i.b. premix in two equal stages evenly over the surface of the base concrete. The overall rate of application should be 4,5kg/m2 if the flooring will be subject from light to medium duty and 7,5kg/m2 if the floor will be subject from medium to heavy duty. Immediately after each stage of broadcasting of the Tsirco-Strongs t.i.b mixture, trowelling should be carried out, either by hand or by means of a power float. The two broadcastings should follow one another before the concrete shows any evidence of hardening. When the final surface has sufficiently stiffened (usually about 2 hours from the time of the first trowelling) a second trowelling

should be given to close any pores and remove any undulation from the surface.

5. Curing

After final trowelling and as soon as the surface has hardened sufficiently to prevent damage, it is recommended to spray the surface with the hardener and dustproofer Tsirco-Dustop 16 which also acts as a curing compound. If high temperatures occur or strong winds prevail, it is recommended to cover the concrete with polythene sheeting for a period of about 3 days. Other standard curing methods can be used depending on climatic and other site conditions. No curing compounds that may leave a permanent film on the

surface should be used, since this will prevent subsequent chemical treatment of the surface.

Physical Properties / Technical Data:

Mesh size: 0,2-1,9mm (+/- 5%).

Apparent bulk density: 3,0/3,3.

Abrasion resistance: 8 times greater than standard concrete.

Impact resistance: 4 times greater than standard concrete.

Shelf life: Tsirco-Strongs T.I.B. aggregates have an indefinite shelf life, when

stored in undamaged, sealed bags under dry conditions.

How to Specify: Apply 4,5-7,5kg/m2 of TSIRCO-STRONGS on freshly laid concrete. For curing apply two coats of Tsirco-Dustop 16. For full chemical resistance apply 2 coats of Tsirco-Res 173 / or Tsirco-Res 408 after 28 days, all in accordance to the instructions of the manufacturers TSIRCON CO. LTD.
