Transcript: Shell Premium Synthetics- Driveline-Adding Value

We see several shots of heavy -duty vehicles(HDV) on a road and the cut to HDV pulling in to a Shell forecourt and then driving off again.

The screen then displays the word ‘Synthetics Lubricants’ in red across the top left hand corner, followed by the words ‘Delivering value’.

An animation of a HDV truck then moves across the screen and a voice-over says;

‘Are you looking for equipment protection? Do you want to reduce your operating costs?’

The animation of the truck then fades to reveal the moving engine of the truck, and the voice-over then continues;

‘Comply with tough environmental regulations,and keep your trucks on the road for longer?’

The animation fades to reveal a front-on shot of a HDV truck moving on the road which then fades back in to an animation of the inside of a working truck. The animation pans across into more detailed parts of the moving truck and the voice-over continues;

‘Shell Lubricants engineers have developed world-class premium and synthetic lubricantsthat can add value to your operation by helping to’

The animation fades to reveal a shot of a truck pulling in to a garage and then a white truck on the road. A along the bottom displays the words ‘Reduce lubricant consumption’ in red. And the voice-over continues;

‘reduce lubricant consumption with extended life products deliver fuel savings with synthetic technology oils’,

Then it cuts to a shot of a truck driving along a road, and the words’Deliver fuel savings’ appear in red, cutting to another shot of men opening a yellow truck bonnet. Voice-over continues;

‘Extend filter cleaning intervals with Low SAPS products,

The text on the screen now displays the words ‘Extend filter-cleaning intervals’ in red. The shot then cuts to men working on the engine of a truck, then closing the bonnet of a truck and then a truck driver pulling round a corner. The text then changes to display ‘Extend equipment life’ in red.The voice-over says;

extend equipment life through enhanced protection,’

It then cuts to a shot of men in Shell overalls working in a factory with lines of Shell products moving along an automated production line. The voice-over finishes with;

‘and, ultimately, help to increase the profitability of your business.’

The shot then pans out to show an ariel view of a HDV truck moving through a green field.

We cut to a white screen with a grid in the background. Text in reed appears along the top of the screen ‘ Product range for the entire driveline’. A pail of Rimula, Spirax and Gadus then appear on the screen. The voice-over says;

‘Shell Rimula heavy-duty diesel engine oils,Shell Spirax transmission, axle, and gear oils,Shell Gadus heavy-duty greases.

The visual then cuts to show a static image of an oil pouring shot, it then fades out and the following text appears across the screen:

This fades and some more text appears on screen;

The text fades and the visual disappears. The screen turns white and an animation of a truck appears on the screen, ‘Delivering value appears across the top of the screen in red next to a pecten. The voice-over begins;

Shell synthetic lubricants are made of synthetic base oils and additivesthat are engineered to meet today's demanding specifications.

The animation in the background zooms in to the engine of the truck. A cylinder appears marking out in red the amount of additives and in yellow the synthetic base oil.

The moving animation of a crankshaft fades and text appears: displaying the higher oxidation stability expended oil life, deposit control.

‘Shell's synthetic lubricants have higher oxidation stability than mineral oils, which helps extend the oil life and prevents the formation of sludge and deposits,keeping components cleaner.

We cut to a scientist wearing safety glasses and a lab coat.

‘This enables optimisation of the oil drain intervals with the confidence that your equipment will be protected for the entire period.’

We cut to a mixture of footage; a shot of man walking into a meeting room as he joins a room full of people sitting around a table and laptop, a head shot of a man wearing a hard hat talking to a colleague, another shot of a man talking to his colleague as they look at truck, a shot of a man working under an elevated truck.

‘In addition, the Shell Lube analyst service allows fleet owners to monitor the condition of their lubricants and make maintenance decisions on oil drain intervals and component replacement that can help lower maintenance costs.’

We then zoom into a close-up of animated truck engine.

‘Lower viscosity oils can help to reduce fuel consumption by reducing the energy loss caused by friction.’

We zoom further into the engine into the moving cogs. Text appears next to the animation: wear protection is a concern with low viscosity oils.

‘However, lower viscosity can lead to concerns about the oil's ability to protect against wear.’

A scientist appears and says the following;

‘Shell's synthetic oils are designed to deliver fuel savings and also to protect the engine throughout the life of the oil.’

We cut back to the animation of the truck and zoom in to the engine and stop at the location of the engine filter.

‘Many new trucks come fitted with after-treatment devices such as diesel particulate filters.’

Animation proceeds to show black particle going in to the filter and being stopped by the particle filter.

‘The ash formed when conventional oils burn can block these filters and lead to additional maintenance costs.’

The engine disappears leaving the filter on the screen. The filter is covered in grey and black specks. Text appears next to the filter: blocked with ash.

The filter then moves and the grey speaks disappear. Text next to the filter displays: Less ash

The filter disappears and a white screen appears. The words SAP appears in large red text followed by Sulphated ash, Phosphorus and Sulphur.

The words disappear and we zoom up close on a pail of RimulaR4L. we see the word sulphur and above that a filled yellow bar with text; Typical CH-4/E5 oils and then a red bar with half the bar filed in. the filled in half is labelled Shell Rimula R4L and the other half 50%. In large text we see in red 50% less.

We cut to another close-up of the moving crankshaft. High viscosity index appears in grey followed by oils change less with temperature.

‘Shell synthetic oils have a high viscosity index, which means the oil's viscosity changes less with temperature.’

We then cut to footage of a scientist talking about the following:

‘Shell's synthetic oil technology adapts better in hot and cold conditions,this means the oils are thin enough to flow in cold conditions, but also thick enough to protect in high temperature conditions.’

We cut back to the animation which is now glowing in bright orange as the parts move. Stays thin when cold appears under the existing text.

We then cut to a shot of a truck moving along a snowy road with large factory in the background.

It then cuts to another shot of heavy snow falling as a truck is moving along a road.

It cuts back to an animation of the truck and the moving engine.

It then cuts to several a shot of different trucks moving along a road.

We zoom back to the animation of the truck and into the engine

We cut again to a shot of a busy city street, a moving truck on the highway. The truck then changes into an animation and we zoom into the engine of the truck.

‘protecting your investment and your bottom line.’

We then cut to an image of a black pail, and a black packshot, a red pail and red packshot and yellow pail with yellow packshot. Designed to meet challenges appears across the top of the screen. Voice over then says;

‘Shell Lubricants, designed to meet challenges.’
