BUSINESS FROM THE MINUTES:

School curling program: Pat Langleo is stepping down as the co-ordinator. Looking for a new co-ordinator for this coming winter season. As well, volunteers are needed to assist. One hour of safe and fun instruction weekly, anyone interested should contact Lorraine.

The name of the curling club has officially be change to: Kerry Park Curling Centre

Plans for promoting curling in the local schools. Kim Liddle will be involved in promoting the curling availability to the schools. BrentwoodCollege will be approached again. It is a suggestion that in 2017-2018 season, a sponsor teacher for each school be involved. The ROCKS AND RINGS program will be at Kerry Park during the 2016-2017 season.

Broom storage: new broom boxes will be installed at the end of each sheet of ice, with individual broom slots.

Banner for the 70+ PCMCA winners has been hung.

WEBSITE: League winners each year will be posted on the Kerry Park Curling Centre website. As well, bonspiel information, meetings, volunteer events, important events, this information needs to be submitted to Myrna Proulx and/or Lorraine Gagnon.

REPORT FROM KERRY PARK: no one from the administrative team was able to attend.

NEW BUSINESS:

Junior Curling: Graeme Service (co-ordinator)

Spoke about the junior program being divided into two tiers for the new kids and the intermediate kids. Tier 1 at 6pm and Tier 2 at 6:45pm. 13 kids passed the requirements and will receive badges and will now advance to the intermediate level. Volunteers are needed to assist and there is a PASSPORT BOOK that lays out the scheduled lessons in detail.

There was discussion about lessons for the adults/parents that are there with the kids. They have to be there to drop off and pick up the kids, so they may want to be out on the ice curling as well.

Member registration forms: Lorraine will have the registration forms emailed to the league rep’s.

Email distribution list is still in the works

Gaming license: the license can be applied for online, it is inexpensive and mandatory if the league is to have a 50/50 draw.

First Aid Kits: each league should know where the kit is stored. It is the responsibility of each league to make a commitment to take control of any emergency (not the CVRD staff’s responsibility) making the curler comfortable, calling 911, getting a lesson for the de-fibulator, etc

New member registration guidelines – 2nd session:

If the curler did not curl in the first session, all dues are still required to be paid in the 2nd session.

Club Championship Challenge:

Men’s/Ladies South Island club champion challenge. Lorraine has invited curlers to email her with their thoughts: what went well and what didn’t.

Report on the Summer Spiel: September 15th to 18th, 2016

to date there at 29 teams registered
