CATEGORIES
Grades 1 – 4 students have a choice of memorizing a poem of their choice or a portion of scripture. These two categories will be judged separately using the attached criteria. A student is allowed to recite a poem he/she has written. However, the judges will only consider how they deliver their recital of the poem - not the relative merits of the poem itself. Each school is allowed to send two students in each grade from 1-4.
Grade 5 – Students will do an Original Speech only as it is their first year to do speeches. Two students may participate from each school.
Grade6 – students may choose between doing an Original Speech or Bible Story. These two categories will be judged separately using the attached criteria. Please note that schools can send a total of threeGr. 6 studentsbut at least one must do the Bible Story category. This is intended to get more participants in the Bible Story category.
Grades 7- 8 students may do an Original Speech or a Visual Aid Speech. These two categories will be judged separately using the criteria enclosed. Schools may send three students from each gradebut at least one from each grade must do the Visual Aid category. Please note: Grade 7 and 8 Visual Aid Speech participants will compete with each other.
Suggestion: It would be a great help if schools sent the list of their students in an excel filerather than filling in the printed version of the registration form. It would limit spellingerrors and be an administrative time saver. Send the excel file to: this format:
