Students who undertake a role in JoMUNXIII are making a commitment to themselves, the students in their committee room, the students with whom they share a country and AISJ. Students who do not fulfill their role can let down many members of the JoMUN community. As such, we require that students who agree to take on a role in JoMUN fully commit to this responsibility.

______The student named above has our permission to participate in the Johannesburg Model United Nations Conference (JoMUN XIII), Thursday, 17th-Sunday 20th September 2015.

______We, the student and parents, understand that this is a school-sponsored activity and that AISJ behavioral expectations and school rules apply throughout the entirety of this activity. We understand that our child will be subject to the actions detailed in the AISJ High School Parent-Student Handbook, should he/she break the school rules.

______We, the student and parents, understand that the following requirements come with a commitment to participate in this activity.

  • Attendance at all after school JoMUNXIII meetings (Tuesdays from 3 to 4pm)
  • Assignment research and familiarity with assignment
  • Opening speech
  • Policy statements
  • Resolutions

Failure to comply with the above requirements could result in removal from this activity and conference. In order to run a successful activities program it is essential that students who commit to an activity finish that activity in “good standing.”

______We, the student and parents, understand that students are expected to wear formal business attire for the duration of the conference.

  • Males: trousers, jacket, shirt, tie and leather shoes
  • Females: knee length skirt or dress, trousers, shirt and jacket
  • Jeans, track suits, sneakers, flip flops, revealing clothing, and visible underwear are not acceptable

______We, the student and parents, understand that students will be missing one full day of school, Friday 18th September, 2015. Students are responsible for catching up on any work that is missed on this day.

______We, the student and parents, understand that participating students may be required to host two students from a visiting school. If your child is a participant in this event and you are unable to host, you are responsible for finding another AISJ family not directly involved in this event to host in your place.

______We, the student and parents, understand that if the student named above quitsJoMUN or is asked to withdraw from JoMUN because they are not fulfilling their obligations they will not be allowed to participate in the next activity session.

______Once payment has been made, you must bring your official receipt from the Business Office to Ms. Maloney or Mrs. Singleton for confirmation of participation. Only at that time will you receive your country assignment.

JoMUN XIII will be held at the AISJ campus this year, apart from the conference dinner, which will be held at the Indaba Hotel. Payment for participation in the conference is USD $135 (or R1552.50*) per student. Payment for returning studentsneeds to be made to the AISJ Business Office by May 15, 2015. New students must arrange payment by August 14, 2015.
