ATTENTION WRESTLING COACH:
GodwinHigh School is proud to announce that we will again be hosting the JV Holiday Wrestling Tournament. It is an outstanding J.V. tournament with over 18 teams last year. We are currently seeking teams that would like to participate. Here are the specifics:
EVENT: JV HOLIDAY WRESTLING TOURNAMENT
DATE: Wednesday, December 30, 2015
WEIGH-IN: 8:00 to 9:00 AM at Godwin High School.
TIMES:Wrestling begins at 10:00 A.M., runs till approx. 4:00 P.M.
SEEDING:None. We will only try to separate wrestlers from the same school in the first round.
ELIGIBLE:Open only to JV’s. Please do not send varsity wrestlers. Eight graders who are on the high school eligibility list are eligible. Eight graders who wrestle for their middle school teams are not eligible. Seniors will not be allowed to wrestle eight graders and will be forced to forfeit their match if they are paired against one (This did not happen last year). This is a VHSL regulation. So you may enter a senior but they may get eliminated due to pairings against 8th graders. Again, this is a JV tournament, not for varsity caliber wrestlers who just lost a wrestle off.
Possible Teams:Godwin, St. Christopher’s, Powhatan, Smithfield, Dinwiddie, Louisa, Varina, Tucker, Freeman, Deep Run, Riverbend, Gloucester, Glen Allen, Manchester, Lee Davis, Thomas Dale, Mathews, Huguenot, Colonial Forge, Matoaca, L.C. Bird, Hayfield, Mathews.
FEE:If you bring 12-20wrestlers, there is a flat fee of $225.00. If you bring 11 or less then the fee is $20.00 per wrestler. If you have more than 20 wrestlers pay the $225 team fee and add $20 for each wrestler over 20. Contact Steve Crocker if you have any questions.
AWARDS:Medals for top three (sometimes four) places. No team points kept.
RULES:VHSL rules.
FORMAT:
- We will use Trackwrestling.com this year and need the coaches to enter their wrestlers before weigh in. If a wrestler does not make weight we will make changes after weigh in.
- We are using the standard VHSL weight classes and procedures.
- Championship rounds will be 2-1-1 and consolation rounds will be 1-1-1.
- We will use line brackets and place thru 4th place. Round robin will only be used if a weight class has 6 or less wrestlers.
- Please send contact person’s name and email who is entering your wrestlers to Steve Crocker, so that he can send them your team password and sign up information.
- Please register you wrestlers a few days before the tournament so that we will have an idea of how many wrestlers may attend. We can always change weights and delete wrestlers later if needed.
TICKETS:ADULTS & STUDENTS- $5.00. KIDS UNDER 12 ARE FREE.
IMPORTANT: Return enclosed form with team fee of $225.00. If you plan to have less than 12 kids return the form and pay at the tournament or send the payment when you return to school. Send to Steve Crocker before December 17 to confirm your entry.
