AHOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE KONSTANTINE DIAMADUROS OF SPARTANBURG COUNTY AND WOFFORD COLLEGE ON BREAKING THE RECORDS FOR CAREER REGULAR SEASON RUNS BATTED IN AND CAREER HITS IN THE COASTAL PLAIN LEAGUE.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to learn that Konstantine Diamaduros of Spartanburg County broke two of the most hallowed hitting records in Coastal Plain League history in becoming the record holder for career regular season runs batted in (RBI) and career hits; and

Whereas, at Spartanburg High School, Diamaduros excelled athletically and academically. As a member of the Viking baseball team, Diamaduros earned AllState honors and posted a career batting average of .398. In the classroom, Diamaduros was named to the AllAcademic team and was a member of the National Honor Society; and

Whereas, upon graduating, Diamaduros took his considerable talents to Wofford College where he continued to excel in both arenas. As a member of the Terrier baseball team, Diamaduros was named to the Southern Conference AllFreshman Team, the Southern Conference AllAcademic Team, and the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll; and

Whereas, after his freshman year at Wofford College, Diamaduros began playing collegiate summer baseball in the Coastal Plain League as a member of the Forest City Owls. The Coastal Plain League is a wooden bat league consisting of fifteen teams in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia; and

Whereas, in his first summer with the Owls, Diamaduros earned a spot on the Coastal Plain League AllStar team and helped lead the Owls to a Coastal Plain League Championship by leading the league in hitting with a .375 batting average; and

Whereas, in his second summer with the Owls, again, Diamaduros earned a spot on the Coastal Plain League AllStar team and helped lead the Owls to a league championship; and

Whereas, in his junior year and most recently completed season, he led the Wofford baseball team in hitting with a .332 batting average; and

Whereas, this summer, Diamaduros returned to Forest City and the Coastal Plain League. On July 10, 2011, Diamaduros went 2for4 with his ninetysixth career regular season RBI, thereby making Diamaduros the alltime Coastal Plain League career regular season RBI holder; and

Whereas, only a few days later on July 13, 2011, tallied his one hundred fiftyninth career hit thereby making Diamaduros the alltime Coastal Plain League career hit leader; and

Whereas, through his amazing accomplishments, Diamaduros has earned the recognition of being one of the most prolific hitters in the history of the Coastal Plain League. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and congratulate Konstantine Diamaduros of Spartanburg County and Wofford College on breaking the records for career regular season runs batted in and career hits in the Coastal Plain League.
