  • The event will includenovice and recreational opportunities.
  • Novice participants may compete in independentfigure and routine competitions (figure scores will not be counted towards routine awards). Swimmers may enter figure and routine events, just the figure event or just the routine event.
  • Recreational swimmers may participate in independent Trillium Skill Pre-testing/Figure Experience and Routine Watershow activities. Swimmers may enter skill testing and watershow events, just the skill testing event or just the watershow event.

Novice Figure Competition:

The figure event will consist of the following figure competitions:

Swimmers may enter one figure competition only. Each age group will have 4 figures to compete based on the Synchro Ontario novice figure groups.

For the figure competition, swimmers are asked to wear a one-piece suit and a bathing cap (please no two-piece suits if possible). Swimmers are encouraged to wear a solid black suit and white cap, but it is not mandatory.

Swimmers entered at each age group will compete together; however, results will be divided by age. For example 13-15 will be ranked within their level by age (13, 14, 15, etc.).

Please indicate the swimmers age on the entry form as of December 31, 2016.

Swimmers ranking 1st through 6th at each age will be awarded. All athletes will receive a participant ribbon.

Novice Routine Competition:

Don’t worry if your routines are not complete – bring what you have and come and have some fun!

Teams must have a minimum of 4 athletes (no penalties for less than 8 swimmers)

3:00 minute maximum routine time limit, no minimum

To determine the correct age category for the team, average the ages of the team members as of December 31, 2016:

Ex) Swimmer 1: 12Average age of team = (12+10+9+11+13+9) / 6

Swimmer 2: 10

Swimmer 3: 9 = 10.7 (round up to 11)

Swimmer 4: 11

Swimmer 5: 13 = 11/12 age category

Swimmer 6: 9

0.1-0.4(round age down) or 0.5-0.9 (round age up)

Swimmers may gel hair and wear headpieces or wear bathing caps – either is fine.

Teams will be ranked 1st-6th in one of the following categories:

Recreational Trillium Pre-Testing/Figure Event Experience

The skill pre-test and figure event experience will take place at each of Trillium 1 through Trillium 6 levels. There will be no Pansy Forbes evaluations.

Swimmers may enter as many pre-tests as their instructor believes appropriate. Trillium pre-test skills include:

For the Trillium skill pre-test, swimmers are asked to wear a one-piece suit and a bathing cap (please no two-piece suits if possible). Swimmers are encouraged to wear a solid black suit and white cap as part of the figure experience, but it is not mandatory.

Participants will complete 2 rotations of 4 stations for each Trillium pre-test entered. Swimmers will receive a number for order of swim, and each station will begin with a different number (similar to figure panels in a figure competition).

Each participant will have a skill passport and will receive a sticker on the passport for successful performance of each skill. If a swimmer is not able to successfully perform the skill they will not receive the sticker for that skill.

Participants will be able to take the passport home as record of their achievement. Instructors can use this passport to help determine athlete readiness to complete their Trillium test. All swimmers will receive a participation ribbon.

Recreational Routine Watershow!

The following age groups and events are welcome to participate in the Recreational Routine Watershow:

10 & Under Team, Duet/Solo

11/12 Team, Duet/Solo

13-15 Team, Duet/Solo

16-20 Team, Duet/Solo

Athletes with a Disability Team, Duet/Solo: all abilities together

**Attached School gym will be available between 9 and 5 for landrill, and competition prep for all athletes and their coaches.**
