Remember that most scholarships will be available through the schools to which you have applied. Sometimes, colleges have separate scholarship and financial aid applications, so don’t miss out, find out!

Duquesne UniversitySchool of Education HALF TUITION Scholarship: DEADLINE: 1/11/2013.As part of their commitment to all new freshmen entering our teacher preparation program in Fall 2013, Duquesne University is offering 50 percent tuition and fee scholarships to accepted applicants. These scholarships are renewable for four years of undergraduate study as long as the student remains enrolled full-time in the School of Education. 1. Choose Ohio First S.T.E.M.M. Scholarships (science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medical-related scholarships): DEADLINE: Varies by school. In an effort to retain college students within Ohio, various post-secondary schools across the state of Ohio are offering students who wish to study STEM-related majors an opportunity to apply for grant-funded scholarships ranging from $500 to full tuition. Choose Ohio First scholarship programs are available at many schools across Ohio in a wide variety of STEMM-related academic areas. 4. eSchool View Web Design and Web Page Development Scholarships: DEADLINE: 2/1/2013.

eSchoolView is offering two scholarship contests in which seniors interested in pursuing Web design or development at the postsecondary level can earn $5,000 scholarships to use for any educational expense. Students in Trumbull County’s public school districts are eligible to participate in this scholarship contest because the Trumbull County Educational Service Center is an eSchoolView client. The Web Design Contest is for seniors interested in pursuing graphic design, web design or other arts. 5. Westminster College Jerb Miller Scholarship: DEADLINE: 10/31/2012

The Jerb Miller Scholarship is awarded to students with a 3.5 or higher grade point average who have been nominated by a Westminster alumnus in the education field. The scholarship provides a four-year ($70,000 total) renewable award. Scholarship recipients may select from any of Westminster's 42 majors. Only 100 scholarships are awarded each year. Nominations are due October 31, 2011, and student applications are due November 15, 2012. Nominations and applications may be submitted online. 6. Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Scholarship: DEADLINE: 10/15/2012. These awards aid college students facing significant financial burdens due to the loss of a parent (or guardian) to breast cancer or their own breast cancer diagnosis at age 25 or younger. The scholarship awards $10,000 per year (for up to four years) to a student to attend a state university in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree. Komen scholarship recipients are selected based on scholastic achievement, community service, financial need and demonstrated leadership potential. 7. Coca-Cola Scholars: DEADLINE: 10/31/2012. Apply Online at: Seniors with at least a 3.0 GPA and who are pursuing a degree at a post-secondary institution are eligible.

8. Horatio Alger Ohio Scholarship: DEADLINE: 10/25/2012. The Horatio Alger Ohio Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to students in the State of Ohio who have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity and who aspire to pursue higher education. Eligibility requirements include a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor's degree, critical financial need, involvement in co-curricular and community activities, a minimum GPA of 2.0, a resident of Ohio, and a citizen of the United States. 9. Seven Seventeen Credit Union Scholarships: Application deadline is 3/1/2013. Applications are now being accepted for scholarships in the amount of $1500 offered by Seven Seventeen Credit Union. Scholarships will be awarded to members of the Cha-Ching Club, The Edge Club, and also to students planning to attend University of Akron,Youngstown State University, and Kent State University, main or regional campuses. 10. Youngstown State University, University Scholars Program: DEADLINE: 2/15/2013. A full-cost scholarship program at Youngstown State University that covers tuition, fees, and housing for four years. Forty scholarships are awarded each year. 11. Ohio State University Scholarships: DEADLINE: Varies. The Ohio State University has increased scholarship opportunities for Ohio State’s talented prospective students. You should apply for admission as soon as possible, but no later than December 1st. 12. Mensa Education and Research Foundation Scholarship Essay Contest: DEADLINE: 1/15/2013. Scholarships from $300 up to $2,000 will be awarded to graduating seniors for the Fall term of 2013 at an accredited institution of post-secondary education. You may download an application form at

14. Gates Millennium Scholars: DEADLINE: 1/16/2013. The Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS) scholarship application is now available. GMS will select 1000 talented students to receivea ‘good-through-graduation’ scholarship to use at any college or university of their choice. Gates Millennium Scholars receive personal and professional development through leadership programs along with academic support throughout their college career. 15. The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards: DEADLINE 11/2/2012. If you've made a difference through volunteering a tremendous amount over the past year, you could win $1,000 and a trip to Washington, D.C. Visit and click on the "Apply Now" link, and follow the onscreen instructions.

16. Engineers Foundation of Ohio: DEADLINE: 12/15/2012. Applications may be downloaded from Criteria: engineering majors with a 3.0 GPA, ACT (29 Math, 25 English).

17.National Commission for Cooperative Education Scholarship: DEADLINE: 2/15/2013. Students must be attending one of the member universities. Visit for application and information. As the largest independently sponsored merit co-op scholarship program in the United States, the National Co-op Commission will award 170 merit co-op scholarships of $6,000 each, for a total renewable value of $4,200,000. These merit co-op scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors and transfer students who plan to participate in college cooperative education (work-related internships) at one of the partner schools (the Univ. of Cincinnati and Univ. of Toledo are the eligible Ohio schools).

18. Bowling Green State University AIMS (Academic Investment in Math and Science) Scholarships: DEADLINE TO APPLY IS 3/1/2013. Visit application and information. Students must have at least a 3.0 GPA, 20 ACT, and be majoring in computer science, math, natural or life science, physical science, engineering, technology, or any other STEM-related field. Students complete a 5-week Summer Bridge program and receive a stipend.

27. Pittsburgh Technical Institute's Art and Design Scholarship competition is underway. DEADLINE: 12/7/2012. Exceptional student leaders are invited to apply for the GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program.This program annually rewards up to 20 college-bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship with $10,000 renewable scholarships (up to $40,000 per recipient). 32. Ohio Safe Kids Poster Design Contest: DEADLINE: 2/7/20113. How To Get Started: Poster art should illustrate the safe use of Internet and/or mobile devices.
