Taylorsville families,
We are SO pleased with the start of our school year! After last week’s PBIS expectations throughout our school and Mrs. Partin’s (our new school counselor) kick off of our Bucket Filling theme, our Taylorsville students have settled into very Safe, Responsible, and Respectful routines! We are extremely pleased! We appreciate your support of these important expectations, and we encourage you to use the language of being “Safe, Responsible, and Respectful” at home, too! Mrs. Partin will share some important information about our Bucket Filling theme in a later edition of our Taylorsville News!
NEW INITIATIVES: TECHNOLOGY, ITSLEARNING, and SCHOOL-WIDE LEARNING OUTCOMES
We have a few exciting initiatives for 2015-2016. This year each student in grades 1-6 will have a school-owned Chromebook to use as a learning tool. Kindergarten classes will have several iPads to use as learning tools. Having these tools will allow for increased engagement, more options, and flexibility in the learning environment. The devices will also allow students to use the new student management system: itsLearning. This year students will learn and self-assess on our school-wide learning outcomes, allowing them to take ownership in their learning. Also this year, we will continue to expect our staff and students to live by our Taylorsville Expectations: Be Safe, Be Responsible, and Be Respectful.
FIRST PTO MEETING
Please plan to join us this TUESDAY, AUGUST 18 from 6-6:30 in our Bears Café for the first PTO meeting of the school year! We hope you will join us and be involved in our Family Activities planning! We want you to have a voice in the learning environment of your child(ren)!
STANDARDS BASED REPORT CARDS – PARENT MEETINGS
Taylorsville is one of four schools who is piloting a new Standards Based Report Card for our primary learners! We encourage you to attend our Parent Meetings during which Mrs. Gant and Mrs. Voelz explain this new way of communicating your child’s progress to you! These meetings are:
First Grade (Ryshavy, Sanders, and Stahl) – Monday, August 17 from 6:00-7:00 p.m.
Team Multi-Age 1st, 2nd, and 3rd (Frady and Tyree) – Thursday, August 20 from 6:00-7:00 p.m.
Second Grade (Calabrese, Euler, and Meade) – Monday, August 24 from 6:00-7:00 p.m.
If Kindergarten Parents were unable to attend the meeting on Thursday, August 13, please contact your child’s teacher or Mrs. Gant, and we will share the information!

Monday kicks off our SCHOOLSTORE.COM fundraiser! Your child will bring information
home that evening, and the first 100 to return the email confirmation form will receive the Glow in the Dark watch! We will have a special visitor on our morning Announcements on Monday!
CAR LINE HELP!
We need your help! Pursuant to state law, smoking is not permissible on school property, so please help us
remind grandparents, other family, and/or friends that they cannot have lit cigarettes in vehicles once they
enter our school property. We are hopeful to have new signage in both our morning Front Car Line and
afternoon Back Car Line that remind everyone that “Young Lungs at Play!” We want to keep our students healthy!
Please help us with this!

¡Estamos TAN complacidos con el inicio del nuevo año escolar! ¡Después de las presentaciones de las expectativas PBIS en toda la escuela y el inicio de nuestro tema Llenando la Cubeta, idea de la Sra. Partin (nuestra nueva consejera escolar), nuestros estudiantes de Taylorsville ya entraron en las rutinas de Seguridad, Responsabilidad y Respeto! ¡Estamos sumamente complacidos! ¡Agradecemos su apoyo con estas importantes expectativas, y le animamos a que también usen en su casa el lenguaje de ser "Seguro, Responsable y Respetuoso”! ¡La Sra Partin compartirá con ustedes información importante acerca de Llenando la Cubeta, en una próxima edición de las Noticias de Taylorsville!
NUEVAS INICIATIVAS: TECNOLOGIA, ITSLEARNING, Y RESULTADOS DEL APRENDIZAJE EN TODA LA ESCUELA
Tenemos unas cuantas emocionantes iniciativas para el 2015-2016. Este año cada estudiante en los grados de 1 al 6 tendrá como herramienta de aprendizaje un Chromebook propiedad de la escuela. Las clases de Kindergarten tendrán varios iPads que utilizaran como herramientas de aprendizaje. El tener estas herramientas permitirá una mayor participación, interés, más opciones y flexibilidad en el ambiente de aprendizaje. Esto equipos también le permitiran a los estudiantes utilizar un nuevo sistema de dirección: itsLearning. Este año los estudiantes aprenderán y se auto-evaluaran para tener los resultados del aprendizaje, lo que les permitirá asumir la propiedad de su aprendizaje. También este año, continuaremos confiados en que nuestros estudiantes y personal vivan según las expectativas de Taylorsville de ser Seguros, Responsables y Respetuosos.
