From North / Venue : OS Map 45 Stonehaven & Banchory Grid Ref : NO 705 799

From A90 southbound, take the B966 signposted to Auchenblae. Turn right after 0.7miles (Just past Farm Shop and Café). Follow the road for approx 1 miles and turn right at the 1st crossroads. Follow road (passing places on narrow sections) and downhill into the village. Turn right and continue uphill. At the top of the hill turn sharp left - signposted for Drumtochty Glen. It says Road Closed but please ignore this as route is open for Access to Drumtochty Castle.
Follow the road for approx 1.5 miles. Just after Church turn right through gates (marked Drumtochty Castle) and then left into venue field.
From South / From A90 northbound, take B966 signposted Auchenblae. Directions as above
From Fettercairn or Banchory / DO NOT COME THIS WAY INTO THE GLEN – B974 ok but there are Road works at Clatterin Brig end of Drumtochty Glen road and you won’t be able to get to the Castle – head for Auchenblae and follow instructions above.
Before you start / 1.  Collect your bib from the administration caravan
2.  All members please hand in SERC Mileage card and Mastercard (competitive ride) and Medical card. The Mileage card & Mastercard should have the ride date & the venue pre-written on them. Non Members complete medical card at admin.
3.  Check for any ‘on the day’ route changes
4.  The ‘ride sheet’ must be completed before you report to the vet or trot-up person
5.  Wear bib for vetting/trot up & hand vet sheet to the vet writer at the vetting area
At the start / Hand your vet sheet to the Starter. Be ready to go when told by the Starter
During the ride / MARKING is with BIODEGRADABLE SPRAY and letters (ignore any red and white tape)
Tell Checkpoint Stewards your number as you pass. Don’t expect them to guess!
Please be considerate when passing walkers or cyclists. Trot only section must be adhered to on penalty of elimination.
After the ride / Collect your Finish card from the Starter. Present to the vet any time within 30 minutes of finishing – the latest time will be on your card. Attend to your horse & present wearing your bib
After Vetting / Make your horse comfortable. Return bib to caravan & collect results & mileage card etc
FIRST AID KIT / Compulsory for all riders : the following items must be carried
Space blanket : ID card (must show name, address, contact for next of kin & any known allergies) : whistle : Triangular bandage :Vet wrap : padded wound dressing ; glucose tabs (Non members can hire bumbag with First Aid from admin
HATS / As of January 1998, riding hats must be PAS 015, EN 1384 ASTMSEIF 1163 or superior

Event Safety Policy

Statement of Intent

Scottish Endurance Riding Club will safeguard so far is reasonably practicable the health, safety and welfare of all persons who might be subject to risks from its activities. This will be achieved by co-operating, communicating and co-ordinating with all relevant agencies, organizations, volunteers, etc. necessary to manage the health & safety during the Scottish Endurance organising committees event.

This policy requires the total co-operation of all involved with the Scottish Endurance Riding Club – committee, stewards, helpers, competitors, members of the public, etc. We require everyone to:

Ø Take reasonable precautions in safeguarding the health and safety of themselves and others.

Ø Observe all health and safety rules and procedures as laid down by Scottish Endurance Riding organising committees, and use all health and safety equipment provided
