overview

The County of Fresno Department of Agriculture is soliciting bids for an annual agreement for County wide residential foliar and injection treatment of residential Glassy-Winged Sharpshooter (GWSS) host plants, with the chemical Merit. (All chemicals will be provided by County Department of Agriculture). Infested properties found shall be prioritized in regards to the importance of agricultural protection.

Treatment shall be by soil injection followed by a foliar treatment of each property.

It is estimated that about 3,000 or so applications may be made throughout the contract period.

The awarded vendor shall provide all vehicles, personnel, labor, materials, equipment, permits, fees, insurance, taxes, mileage etc to perform these services. All bidder(s) are required to quote an hourly rate, based on the requirements stated.

The crew will perform these services under the direct supervision of the Department of Agriculture, where a County Inspector will accompany the crew at all locations, and will observe and record environmental conditions at the time of application, reconcile spray records, and resolve any on-site issues, etc.

It is anticipated that the start location will be west of Fresno near the Highway 99 corridor. However locations may change due to priority and necessity.

All water replenishment will need to be carried out at the closest CountyMaintenance yards within the application area or as instructed and directed by the CountyInspector.

It is anticipated that all treatments will end on the last Friday of October 2010. However if GWSS is detected in a high risk area, the contractor may be requested to make fall applications as the weather allows.
