Kindergarten screening: Friday, August 28:

Your child is scheduled to come at ______. If your child can read, please bring a book that he or she can read independently. I will come to the lobby to pick up your child. You can wait in the lobby until we return. The screening will take about 15-20 minutes.

Birthdays:

We love to celebrate our birthdays! When there is a birthday to celebrate, we read a birthday book from my special birthday bag. We sing Happy Birthday, and the birthday child chooses a pencil and a bookmark.

If you want to send a treat to celebrate your child’s birthday, please refer to the UME Student Handbook. You may send a wrapped treat that will be sent home at dismissal.

If you want to send invitations to a party, please send one for every child in the class. I will send them home in the children’s homework folders.

D’nealian Handwriting:

The elementary classes at UME Prep learn the D’nealian style of handwriting. In the past, Kindergarten used traditional ball and stick handwriting. We are joining the rest of the elementary grades and will be learning the D’nealian style of handwriting. You will notice that it has a slight slant and has pre-cursive connectors at the end of many lowercase letters. The name writing sheet is printed in D’nealian, and other handwriting sheets will also use that style.
