The Hong Kong Centre for Transport and Logistics (HKCTL) under the Vocational Training Council offers 2 Professional Diploma courses in October 2003. Both are approved reimbursable courses under the Continuing Education Fund (CEF)*.

* The Continuing Education Fund (CEF) subsidizes adults with learning aspirations to pursue continuing education and training courses. Eligible applicants will be reimbursed 80% of their fees, subject to a maximum sum of HK$10,000, on successful completion of an approved course.
Objectives
Professional Diploma in Business Logistics:
This course focuses on trading and business logistics in the supply chain and is primarily designed for services users / traders, both importers and exporters, of small medium enterprises (SMEs). It is also relevant to those logistics service providers who would like to have a better understanding of the business logistics and operations of traders. It aims to enable students to have a better appreciation of integrated logistics concepts and to provide them with the knowledge and necessary skills to enhance their competitiveness in the supply chain process.Professional Diploma in Transport Logistics:
This course aims at providing training to practitioners in the transport logistics industry. It focuses on transport logistics operations and is particularly suitable for personnel of logistics service providers such as freight forwarders, 3PLs / liner operators or parties who would like to up keep their concepts and practices in this area.
Course Structure
For each course, there are 8 compulsory modules each of a duration of 15 hours (a total of 120 hours). Classes will be held in weekday evenings and/or on weekends. The following table appends the 8 modules of the respective course:

Entrance Requirements
Any one of the following:
- Associate Degree or Higher Diploma or Diploma in any discipline; or
- Membership of an approved professional body (it includes but is not limited to the following):
- Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport
- Ordinary member of the Hong Kong Logistics Association
- Ordinary member of the Hong Kong Institute of Purchasing & Supply
- Others; or
- Certificate / Higher Certificate holders with 3 years’ work experience; or
- Those who do not have the above qualifications but are over 23 years of age on 1 September of the year application and possess at least 5 years’ work experience can be admitted as mature student. Applicants under this category may be invited to attend an interview for assessment purpose.
Study Mode
Part-time evening. Classes are held at 7:00-9:30 pm on weekdays.
Attendance Requirement
To be eligible for the award, an attendance rate of 70% or above per module is required.
Assessment
For each module except Work Based Project, there is a continuous assessment (30%) and a 1.5-hour examination (70%). Work Based Project will be assessed on presentation (30%) and the project report (70%).
Award
Students who meet the attendance requirement of 70% and pass the course work and examinations of all modules will be awarded a Professional Diploma issued by the Hong Kong Centre for Transport and Logistics, Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Tsing Yi).

Continuing Education Fund (CEF)
Students who wish to apply for reimbursement of tuition fees should send the completed CEF application form to the HKCTL two weeks before the commencement of the 1st module (i.e. on or before 7 October 2003) for the stamping of the institution chop. The form will be sent to the Office of the Continuing Education Fund (OCEF) by the HKCTL before the commencement of the course. The OCEF will not accept late applications.
