Bank of North Georgia Partners with Action Ministries for the third year for their Feed the Hungry Campaign

ATLANTA, Ga. (October 5, 2015) – Bank of North Georgia, a division of Synovus Bank, has chosen to partner with Action Ministries for a third year in support of the nonprofit’s Feed the Hungry Food Box program. Now through November 6, 2015, customers and supporters can visit any of their 40 Bank of North Georgia locations and donate $5 for a food box that will feed a family for up to five days.

Last year, our friends and customers at Bank of North Georgia raised $46,000 to sponsor nearly 9,500 food boxes. That provided about 200,000 meals to hungry families across North Georgia. Their goal this year is to raise $55,000 to sponsor 11,000 food boxes, providing 220,000 meals to families in need.

At each of the 40 Bank of North Georgia branches (www.bankofnorthgeorgia.com), associates will be helping customers learn about the program and how with each $5 donation Action Ministries can pack a food box containing staples and nonperishables that will provide several days’ worth of meals.

“At Bank of North Georgia, we don’t just work in the communities we serve, we strive to be active participants,” said Rob Garcia, president and chief executive officer, of Bank of North Georgia. “With nearly twenty percent of Georgians living in hunger-threatened households, we are again partnering with Action Ministries in support of its Feed the Hungry food box initiative. We live here. We raise our children here. And we work hard to make our communities better. We encourage our team members to be hands-on with the organizations that they support.”

“We chose Action Ministries because they are a 51-year-old, well-respected nonprofit with an excellent track record of success,” continued Garcia. “Last year alone, they served more than 100,000 individuals in need across North Georgia, but the need is much greater. Their service footprint mimics ours perfectly, so it’s a great fit.”

“Action Ministries appreciates the support of Bank of North Georgia and its customers because Georgia has the sixth highest poverty rate in the country, and the need for our services continues to grow at a rapid pace,” said John R. Moeller, Jr., president & CEO, Action Ministries. “By meeting the basic needs of hunger relief, housing and education, Action Ministries removes barriers that prevent thousands of Georgians from breaking the cycle of poverty and realizing their potential.”

You do not have to be a Bank of North Georgia or Synovus customer to participate. Anyone can give by visiting a Bank of North Georgia branch or by donating online at www.actionministries.net/donate or www.bankofnorthgeorgia.com or Text FOODBOX to 41444.
