The balance remaining of available funding is currently allocated against the following activities:
- Dance/cheerleading instructor for KS1 and KS2 after school club:£1000
- Martial Arts club for KS1 and KS2, and after school club:£1000
- Moving from good to outstanding course, part 2:£90
- Outward Bounds trip to Norwich for years 3, 4, 5 and 6:£3000
“What impact the school has seen on pupils’ PE and sport participation, and attainment and how the improvements will be sustainable in the future.”
This funding has been given by the government to help deliver the London GamesLegacy commitments, with the aim of re-energising school sport, with a focus on competition and creating a sporting habit for life in young people.
Allocations for the academic year 2015 to 2016 are calculated using the number of pupils in years 1 to 6, as recorded in the January 2015 census, amounting to £8000 + £5 per pupil.
The funding has been spent in the following ways:
EMPLOYING SPORTS COACHES
- External coaches providing additional archery, fencing, martial arts, dancing sessions andmulti sports.
OLYMPIC GAMES
- Providing 8 gazebos for the children, a PA system to use outside, and gold, silver and bronze medals.
EXTENDING THE RANGE OF THE EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
- Pupils are asked what clubs they would like to do and, where possible, these are offered - including the hiring in of an external coachif necessary - see above. Participation is monitored and reviewed on a regular basis.
- A schedule of extra-curricular activities is published termly to make parents aware of which activities are available.
- Additional equipment purchased this year to extend the range of activities, including new football equipment and keep fit materials for after school clubs.
COMPETITIVE SPORT
- Awards are provided for all internal competitive tournaments.
- Sports day in June/July is run as a competitive inter- colour team event.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN PE
- PE teacher goes on PE courses.
LONG TERM PARTICIPATION AND HEALTHY LIFESTYLES
- Years 3,4,5 and 6 to continue having swimming lessons with the aim of ensuring that all pupils can swim 25 meters by the end of year 6.
NEW DEVELOPMENTS FOR 2016/17
- To set up a project where children are keeping fit through all ages.
- To set up football competitions against fellow schools.
- A termly school newsletter.
