Jesus is alive again

An EasyEnglish Story Unit (AEE) from Luke’s Good News

Joyce Ferrie

One of the leaders was a good man.

His name was Joseph.

He did not agree with the other leaders.

He knew that Jesus was from God.

Joseph went and asked for the body of Jesus.

He took the body of Jesus down.

He wrapped it in cloths.

He put it in a tomb.

The tomb was like a cave cut out of the rock.

The women who were Jesus’ friends saw the tomb.

They went home to prepare perfumes to put on his body.

Very early the next morning the women went to the tomb.

They found the stone that closed the tomb was rolled away.

They went inside. They did not find Jesus’ body.

They wondered what had happened.

Suddenly, two angels in shining robes stood there.

The women were very scared; they bowed down to the ground.

“Why are you looking for a living person among the dead?

He is not here, he has come back to life”, said the angels.

“Do you remember Jesus told you this?

He said he would be killed and on the thirdday

he would come back alive again.”

The women went back and told Jesus’ friends.

They could not believe it. They thought it did not make sense.

But Peter went to the tomb.

He saw the cloths lying by themselves.

He went away wondering what had happened.
