Job Description – Fundraising Officer (Trusts, Foundations, Lottery)

Hours:37.5 hours per week

Starting:£24,000 - £34,000

Holiday entitlement:25 days per annum, increasing with length of service up to 30 days per annum, plus designated bank holidays

Pension:5%

Reporting to:Marketing & Communications Manager

Main purpose of the job:

Working closely with the Marketing & Communications Manager, Chief Executive and trustees, the postholder will be responsible for planning, developing and implementing a highly-effective and successful fundraising strategy in order to support the achievement of the charity’s vision and objectives and meet current, emerging and future needs, focusing upon the National Lottery and charitable trusts & foundations.

Main Tasks:

  1. Research, identify and scope potential sources of funding which meet funding needs and priorities of Carers Lewisham - principally across charitable trusts & foundations and the National Lottery.
  1. Prepare and submit tailored and generic funding proposals, including budgets and any supporting documentation, as directed.
  1. Ensure all funding awards and supporting documentation are properly and duly processed and support colleagues to prepare and submit any additional documentation required by fundersin order to satisfy any and all contractual obligations.
  1. Support the Marketing & Communications Manager and Chief Executive to manage and develop external partnerships and relationships relating to fundraising.
  1. Working with colleagues, prepare and submit timely and accurate financial, performance, and evaluation reports to management and funders as necessary and as directed in order to satisfy any and all contractual obligations.
  1. Working with colleagues, recruit, train and manage a team of volunteers who will support the fundraising strategy and operations.
  1. Ensure all policies and procedures are rigorously adhered to and fundraising records are maintained in accordance with those policies and procedures as well as all current legislation, standards and best practice.
  2. Support the Marketing & Communications Manager to promote the work of Carers Lewisham through presentations, the writing of PR materials, press releases, advertisements and media campaigns.
  1. Working with colleagues and in line with relevant legislation and safeguarding policies and procedures, collate case studies, photographs and information from the field which can be used for publicity.
  1. Support colleagues to develop and manage a programme of community-based fundraising including events, activities, web-based auctions and sales, legacies, bequests, and donations.

Person Specification

The successful candidate must have at least two years’ experience in fundraising and communications, ideally within the health and social care sector. They must be able to work with Microsoft Office as well as be able to prepare and present budgets, as directed.

They must be able to work effectively within a small team of staff, where mutual support is vital to the achievement of the charity’s objectives.
