HUMAN RESOURCESASSOCIATION OF NEW BRUNSWICK INFORMATION

The Human Resources Association of New Brunswick is a non-profit organization. It was established in 1996.

The goal is to meet the needs of Human Resources professionals in our province for their growth and recognition.

The purpose is to promote and encourage members to develop and maintain a professional standard of knowledge and proficiency in our occupational field.

The mandate includes attaining recognition as a resource on employment issues, as well as promoting and gaining acceptance of the Human Resources field for the distinct body of knowledge it provides in business.

I.MENTORSHIP PROJECT GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

Human Resources Mentorship Program Goals and Objectives

The goal of the Human Resources Association of New Brunswick - Fredericton Mentorship program is to link Human Resources professionals with new Human Resources graduates, practitioners, employers, and individuals who are interested in expanding their knowledge and experience in Human Resources or have a person that they can use as a sounding board for joint development. In the 2010 Member Survey – Fredericton it was identified that our biggest weakness was mentoring new/young professionals. We believe this program will address this area of opportunity.

Human Resources Mentorship Project Objectives

  • To increase awareness of the Human Resources profession
  • To facilitate networking/collaboration between Human Resources professionals and individuals interested in learning Human Resources practices, standards, etc.
  • To provide an opportunity for people in different industries to have a contact to broaden their human resources skills
  • To make appropriate mentor/mentee matches
  • To make the program as simple and as least costly as possible
  • To develop a program that is valuable for both the Mentor and Mentee

Mentorship Definition

Mentoring is the development of a cooperative and nurturing relationship between a more experienced person (Human Resources mentor) and a less experienced person (mentee).

Benefits

As a Mentor, the benefits of contributing to this program are enhancing leadership skills, promoting Human Resources professional standards, networking and it counts as points towards the CHRP re-certification.

As a Mentee, the benefit of participating in this program is learning from real live experiences of skilled Human Resources professionals, networking and support in career development.

Focus

The focus of this program is to match individuals from the four tiers of Human Resources professionals

  • Students or recent graduates;experienced employee but new to the Human Resources field;experienced in the Human Resources field but would like to expand their knowledge in a different specialty or industry (i.e. Compensation expert, union vs non-union environment etc)and the experienced Human Resources Professional.

Throughout these four levels, there is an abundance of knowledge just waiting to be shared between Mentors and Mentees. Our intention is to promote the Mentorship program within the University of New Brunswick, New Brunswick Community College, Eastern College and Atlantic Business College as well as to all of our Human Resources Association of New Brunswick– Fredericton members.
