Fundraising Group Treasurer

Have you got a few hours a week to spare doing exciting and ambitious fundraising for one of the world’s leading charities?

Oxfam Fundraising Groups are teams of volunteers who raise money to fight poverty by organising their own fundraising events. Oxfam are looking to set up a brand new team in Grantham and we’re looking for a treasurer.

What does the role involve?

  • Working with a group of passionate, like-minded people in the Grantham area.
  • You’ll play an integral role as part of a fundraising group by managing all of the funds for your team and transferring these to Oxfam.
  • As you’ll be a new group, you will be responsible for setting any bank accounts and making sure that the group has an organised start.
  • Attend regular meetings with your group to discuss fundraising events that you would like to put on and how best to recruit supporters in the local community.
  • Getting to know the charity; we want you to love what you do, and be passionate about Oxfam. After all, your fundraising means we can help even more people worldwide!

Why should I give it a go?

  • Because Oxfam are working in over 90 countries worldwide to overcome poverty and suffering, and by joining a fundraising group, you’ll become part of this movement.
  • Because you’re not on your own – you’ll work with a team of likeminded people and receive great support from Oxfam.
  • Because it will give you a chance to enhance your organisational and financial skills and to develop totally new ones.

What sort of skills do I need?

  • Enthusiasm, enthusiasm and enthusiasm!
  • Strong communication skills and ability to motivate your group, and listen to their feedback.
  • Financial experience would be ideal but all you need are good organisational and team skills.

What can I get out of it?

  • Making a difference to the lives of the poorest people worldwide.
  • Developing leadership and organisational skills. Making an amazing contribution by motivating your team towards the same goal.
  • Oxfam support every step of the way; training, out of pocket expenses and ongoing help.
