Notebook Directions

You will keep an organized notebook for this class. A 1 inch, 3-ring binder with pockets is ideal. Also, one with a cover you can insert a cover page into is good too. You must have 10 dividers for your notebook that you can label. The workbook pages are 10 points per page for pages completely filled in and checked in class. You must keep up on homework. Your notebook will be organized as follows:

Quarter Participation Español 2

This quarter we will be doing current events. Each Tuesday, you will turn in a current event, so find out what is going on with hispanics in the United States! You will turn in the article (en Inglés o Español), AND write a summary and reflection about the article en Inglés, so choose an article that has some meaning for you!

Written reflections should include a paragraph summarizing the article and at least one paragraph with your personal reflection. The summary and reflection may be in English. Once you have used a news source, you must choose a different one for the next week. When you turn in a written reflection, it must be a half-page typed. If you are absent on Tuesday, then you need to turn in your actualidad when you return on Wednesday. You may use a late pass if necessary.

Examples for sources: You may use these or other reliable sources. a list of all news sources for each country. Choose North America, then US, then a state, then a paper. The codes on the right tell you what language it is in and what kind of articles it publishes.

Now, you are to write an essay that describes what you have done and what you have learned about hispanics in the US. Describe some of the articles you read. Try to empathize with the people and try to see things from their point of view. What problems do they face? Do similar things happen to Americans? Do we handle problems differently? Would you like to visit or live in another country? What issues do they deal with here? Give lots of reflections about your learning. DO NOT REFLECT ON THE ASSIGNMENT ITSELF-I don’t want to know your opinion of the assignment!
