The Reidsville Police Department has consolidated with the County’s 911 Communications Center in Wentworth. All local 911 emergency calls will now be dispatched to the new Center. The consolidation officially took place on Monday, March 16, 2015. The Reidsville Police Department, as well as other local agencies, has made a few changes in its procedures in order to accommodate its citizens. Citizens may continue to come to the Police Department for quality service during the hours of 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. After hours, citizens who need emergency assistance will call 911 as usual. For non-emergency calls after 5 p.m., the calls will be transferred to an automated phone system (336) 349-1010. Non-emergency messages left on the automated phone system will be returned as quickly as possible.
The front entrance door of the Police Department will remain open at all times. After hours, anyone seeking assistance will need to request help through an intercom/surveillance system, which is easily identified once walking into the front entrance of the department. The system is directly linked to Wentworth’s 911 Communications Center. Citizens may also lock the entrance door behind them if they feel threatened or fear for their safety. Police Officers will continue to be housed at the Police Department “after hours” but will simply be dispatched through Communications in Wentworth. Easy-to-follow instructions (pictured below) will be placed at the front entrance for assistance. As before, all after hours calls or requests will be handled in a quick manner.
Due to mandated Federal CJIS (Criminal Justice Information Services) guidelines, the department has made provisions to make its physical perimeters more secure in order to protect criminal justice material. Elevators are now secure as well as many office areas. Although there is some limited access throughout the department, the new Support Services Division will accommodate the public with general information as well as obtaining officer assistance. Once a citizen comes to the department, posted signs will direct them to the Support Services Division where citizens will receive prompt, quality service. Your cooperation and understanding is greatly appreciated during this transition. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us at (336) 349-1010.
