President’s Message

Everyone is busy with the holidays. I hope you all enjoy the season and have a great 2015. Don’t forget to report your CPE through the Certification Management System. Click on the link to access the system. Certification Candidate Management System (CCMS)
We have quite a lineup of events scheduled over the next few months. Check it out below.
We need volunteers for the nomination committee. The volunteers should not be current Officers or Governors. They would solicit nominations and send out ballots to elect our 2015 – 2016 Board.
Linda Januska
President, Heartland-Iowa IIA

IIA HQ Updates
CBOK – Participation in the previous CBOK study by members in the United States was much lower than other countries. There will be a big push for member involvement in 2015 (survey opens 2/2/15). There will be email communication about how to earn additional CAP points as well as some other incentives. There will be a potential for anyone submitting the survey to be entered for gift cards, and the chapters with the highest percentage participation will have a speaker provided for a meeting in 2015/2016 by the IIA. The survey will take about 45 minutes to complete, so it is time consuming.
IIA Career Map – The Career Map has been launched. If you haven’t had a chance to use this tool, I recommend completing the self-assessment. The tool identifies any gaps you may have in your current position as well as allows you to compare to future positions you would like to obtain. Then you can use the Development Plan Wizard to tailor a training program for yourself. The IIA will also be unveiling TeamBuilder which allows you to aggregate the skill set for your team in Q1 2015.
Industry Centers – With the success of the Audit Executive Center and the American Center for Government Auditors, the IIA is looking at rolling this model out for other industries. The financial services industry will be the next to be rolled out, and I believe this will replace the Financial Services Audit Group. I believe the planned launch is sometime in 2015. Additional industries are being considered for a center, so stay tuned. The IIA will also be launching a Risk Resource Center similar to the COSO Resource Center.
