- @ Review the Joint Commission website for information regarding items hospitals measure for their quality metrics
- @ Create one PowerPoint slide demonstrating the relationship between hospital quality and nursing quality (25 points) [each student will have 3 minutes to describe their slide to colleagues during this week’s synchronous class session]
Module 2: Nurse Sensitive Indicators /
- @ The learner will state the purpose of the National Database for Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI). (#1)
- * The learner will formulate a list of Nurse Sensitive Indicators that are applicable for his/her healthcare setting. (#2)
- @ Watch video clip on Nurse Sensitive Indicators
- * Review the list of indicators that are considered to be Nurse Sensitive
- @ Write 2-3 page paper in APA format, explaining the importance of nurse sensitive indicatorsin healthcare. * Within this paper, write a paragraph on 2 or 3 of the indicators that are applicable to your unit, and why these are measured(50 points) [submit paper to the dropbox in Carmen]
Module 3: Nursing Quality Benchmarks /
- * The learner will demonstrate where to find unit specific Nursing Quality Data in the healthcare institution. (#2)
- * The learner will explain how his/her unit compares to another unit within the institutions for a specific NurseSensitive Indicator.(#2)
- *Interview a QI representative or nurse manager and find out how the data is collected and where thedata is kept.
- *Compare one of the nurse sensitive indicators metrics from your unit, to another like unit within your institution.
- * Create a post on the discussion board comparing the outcome you identified against that same indicator from another like unit. What surprised you about the results? What impacts these results? (25 points) [submit to the course blog page]
Module 4: Process Improvement /
- # The learner will compare and contrast the different components of the Plan, Do, Check, Act Model. (#3)

You will be given 10 minutes during the synchronous class to explain your presentation to colleagues]
