By
Forest Analysis and Inventory Branch, FLNRO
June 28, 2016, Room 601, 727 Fisgard St, Victoria
Summary
LiDAR Enhanced Forest Inventory (LEFI) has become an important inventory tool for providing much improved forest information than traditional inventories. After several years of working on LEFI, the FAIB has developed specific processes and models for running typical LEFI projects. As a step toward technology transfer and implementation, this one-day workshop is proposed and designed specifically for the inventory specialists and practitioners within the provincial inventory program in BC. The goal of this workshop is to enable the inventory staff to grasp the basic principles and methodology of LEFI in order to execute future LEFI projects in BC. Specific objectives are (1) to learn basic principles and techniques of LiDAR remote sensing; (2) to demonstrate principles, components, standards and specifications, steps and procedures in a typical LEFI project; and (3) to review issues and challenges in the integration and implementation of LEFI, and its future trends
