Wahpeton City Council
June 22, 2010
Present: Hansey, Mayor Sturdevant, DeVries, Dale, Bajumpaa, and Bohn.
Absent: Mitskog and Hartman.
Also Present: Huwe, Lies, Thorsteinson, MacIver and Appell
Mayor Sturdevant called the meeting to order at 5:04pm.
Attorney Lies issued Oath of Office and swore in Mayor Sturdevant, Tiana Bohn, Steve Dale and Meryl Hansey.
Mayor welcomed Steve Dale to the Council and Jim Hartman will be sworn in at the next City Council Meeting.
Mayor made appointments to the Committees. Motion by Hansey, seconded by DeVries to accept the mayoral appointments to the various committees as follows: Finance & Economic Development Committee: Tiana Bohn, Chairman; Alisa Mitskog, Vice Chairman; Don Bajumpaa and Renelle Bertsch. Public Works Public Safety Committee: Meryl Hansey, Chairman; Chris DeVries, Vice Chairman; Jim Hartman and Steve Dale. Flood Committee: Mayor Sturdevant, Chairman; Don Bajumpaa, Vice Chairman, Chris DeVries and Steve Dale. Planning Commission: Meryl Hansey, Damon DeVillers, and Roger Jensen. City Weed Board: Meryl Hansey, Steve Dale, Jim Hartman, Chris DeVries, and Wayne Beyer. Wahpeton Community Center Committee: Alisa Mitskog and Meryl Hansey. SEMCA: Jim Hartman and Meryl Hansey. Zoning Adjustment Board: Trudy Tischer. Library Board: Jennifer Beyer and Chris DeVries. Motion Carried.
Motion by Bajumpaa, seconded by Bohn to appoint the following to Visitors Committee: Wanda Seliski, Merlin Beto, and Renelle Bertsch. Motion Carried.
Motion by Bohn, seconded by Bertsch to appoint the following to the Economic Development Commission: Dan Zink and Bill Grosz. Motion Carried.
Motion Bertsch, seconded by Hansey to appoint Jim Aldrich to the Airport Authority. Motion Carried.
Bohn nominated Mitskog for President of the council. After three requests for other nominations the Council confirmed Mitskog as Council President.
Bajumpaa nominated Hansey for Vice President of the council. After three requests for other nominations the council confirmed Hansey as Council Vice President.
Motion by Bertsch, seconded by Hansey to adjourn at 5:13pm. Motion Carried.
