A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 509510, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO HUNTING AND FISHING LICENSES AUTHORIZED FOR SALE, SO AS TO REVISE THE REQUIREMENTS AND PRIVILEGES OF AND PROCEDURES FOR A SENIOR LIFETIME LICENSE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Section 509510(15) of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 83 of 2005, is further amended to read:

“(15) A person who has been a domiciled resident of South Carolina for at least one hundred eighty days preceding the date of application and who has attained the age of sixtyfour years may obtain a statewide senior lifetime license for either statewide fishing and hunting and fishing license or statewide fishing for nine dollars; provided, that those persons who have attained the age of sixtyfive on or before July 1, 2005, may obtain this license at no cost. This license includes the privilege of hunting big game, hunting on wildlife management area lands, and state migratory waterfowl and of saltwater fishing. An initial application for statewide fishing privileges may be amended by the applicant to add statewide hunting privileges at no additional cost once any required hunter education certifications are obtained. Statewide fishing privileges include freshwater fishing and saltwater fishing. Statewide hunting privileges include small game, big game, migratory birds, state migratory waterfowl, and wildlife management area lands. A Harvest Information Program (HIP) survey for migratory birds must be completed when the initial application is made for hunting privileges; thereafter, no further HIP survey is required.”

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
