THE BLUE WHALE CHALLENGE – A VERY VERY DANGEROUS GAME

We are living in the world where technology has almost surpassed humanity. However, everything has a flip side. We would like to encourage parents to be proactive in protecting their children from potential negative influences of the internet.

This is an advisory for the parents to monitor their children’s social media activity for a new game that challenges participants to harm themselves.The Blue Whale game or Blue Whale Challengeis believed to be aSUICIDE GAMEwherein a group of administrators or a certain curator gives a participant a task to complete daily — for a period of 50 days — the final of which is the participant committing suicide. Participants are expected to share photos of the challenges/tasks completed by them. Attempts to opt out are countered with threats by the Administrators of the game.

Users are encouraged to tag friends on social media and ‘challenge’ them to participate in the game.These daily tasks start off easy — such as listening to certain genres of music, waking up at odd hours, watching a horror movie, among others, and then slowly escalate to carving out shapes on one’s skin, self-mutilation and eventually suicide. Some say the user has to install some app on their smart phone, others say it’s via social media likeInstagram, Snapchat and YouTube.

Many deaths of young children have been reported in the media who were apparently involved in the challenge.

It is TERRIFYING.

We advise parents to search through their children’s social media accounts for use of the #BlueWhaleChallengehashtag or photos of a blue whale.This post is not meant to alarm anyone, but rather to encourageparents to be vigilant about the activities of our children on social media so as to keep them safe and sound.

This challenge has taken lives and we want to protect our sons from this grave danger. We know that we will receive unconditional support on this issue .God be with each one of us!
