Course Description:Biology 3. General Biology (3)A comprehensive course designed to allowstudents to identify and describe the major concepts of modern and classical biological sciences including the fundamental physical and chemical principles underlying the life sciences; the basics of cell structure and function; the underlying principles ofheredity, reproduction, and development; and the intimate interplay between organisms and their environment.
Course Objective. Students will develop a solid foundation in the concepts of body plan, form, function and relationships between an organism and the environment. Students will gain proficiency for science writing skills practicing for the essay exams in this writing intensive course.
SLO - Example of what a successful student will be able to do:Biology 3 students will work together as a laboratory team to answer questions, in writing, on laboratory techniques learned in the course and will be able to design simple experiments and explain the results.

Cheating and Plagiarism All forms of cheating and plagiarism (the claiming of the work of others as your own) are expresslyforbidden by College rules and will not be tolerated. Any student observed cheating will be subject to disciplinary action by the College and may receive a grade of F in the course.
Withdrawal policy: Nonattendance does Not constitute withdrawal. Exclusions after the fourth week of instruction should be expected only for students who didn't attend class and missed 6 hours or more of lecture or lab. Withdrawals are not permitted during the final weeks. It is the student's responsibility to be aware of the COLLEGE POLICIES.
Write up of lab: Includes the following: Title, Authors, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Conclusion. These may be typed during lab. One write up is required for each lab for each group.
