Walker’s Weekly

Week’sRecap
This week, we have read books about the fall and holidays that occur in the fall. Students have had the chance to create several art activities including fall leave “stained glass” window art and a fall tree with fall leaves. Students have gotten to sing songs about pumpkins in music and create pumpkins in art class. We also had the Magic Pumpkin lesson presented by the Lion’s Club on Monday. The students planted a magic pumpkin seed that grew a pumpkin overnight for them to pick on Tuesday.
Upcoming Week
We will continue the theme of pumpkins throughout the rest of the week. On Thursday, we will have a fall celebration in the classroom, playing games with pumpkins, including a pumpkin ring toss game and a pumpkin bowling game. Students will also decorate a cookie to look like a pumpkin and be able to paint a small pumpkin.
Beginning in November, we will begin a theme of family and focus our language lessons around family and books about family.
Help your child at home
This week’s helpful tip that you can work on with your child at home includes allowing them to begin to dress themselves and put on their coats. When it is time for your child to change clothes or dress, try to see if they can pull their pants up or put on their coat. Once they are able to do small tasks with you helping them, try to see if they can do these tasks alone. Whenever they need help with it, please have your child ask for help, whether it’s by using words or signing for help.
