Insulate panels with 1inch neoprene coated glass fibre insulation. Equip discharge panel with duct collar. Back panel shall have a 2inch filter frame with bottom filter access and be complete with duct collar. Filters shall be throwaway type. Bottom and side panels shall be removable for inspection and maintenance.
1.At time of Substantial Completion, and prior to turning equipment over to Owner, Contractor shall install a complete set of unused, clean filters in each unit supplying filtered air to the building. Provide (2) sets of prefilters; (1) during construction and (1)for Owner at Substantial Completion).
C.Fans: Fans shall be DWDI, forward curved, centrifugal type dynamically balanced and mounted on solid steel fan shaft. Fan bearings shall be permanently lubricated, resiliently mounted, selfaligning ball bearings.

D.Coils: Coils shall be of the extended surface plate fin and staggered tube type constructed of 1/2inch outside diameter seamless copper tubing and rippled aluminum fins. Coils shall be suitable for the application and have, as a minimum, the number of rows tabulated below.
E.Drain Pan: Drain pan shall be fabricated on continuous stainless steel, insulated with closed cell insulation sealed with mastic, and pitched towards drain connection.
F.Motor and Drive: In the interest of energy conservation and a maintenance stand point, direct drive ECM type motors preferred. When ECM is not available, motor mount shall be a hinged type for simple belt tension adjustment and be securely fastened to unit frame. Drive shall be Vbelt with a variable pitch motor sheave. Motor shall be open, dripproof type with a minimum horsepower and electrical service as tabulated below. Refer to Section 230513, Electric Motor Schedule, or the Equipment Schedule for voltage and rpm requirements. Refer to Section 230513 for motor minimum efficiency.
G.FILTERS
A.General Requirements:

SECTION 23 82 20
1.Provide factory fabricated filter section of the same construction and finish as unit casings. Filter section shall have side access filter guides and access door(s) extending the full height of the casing to facilitate filter removal. Provide fixed filter blockoffs as required to prevent air bypass around filters. Blockoffs shall not need to be removed during filter replacement.
2.Filter type, MERV rating, and arrangement shall be provided as defined in Project Drawings and schedule.
3.Filter Gauges:
a.Provide Dwyer 2000 (photohelic) magnehelic gauges.
b.Magnehelic gauges shall be accurate to plus 2percent of full range.
c.Include static pressure tips.
d.One gauge shall be provided for each pre-filter and final filter bank.
e.Gauges shall be recessed into cabinet casing.
f.Filter sections consisting of pre and postfilters shall have a gauge for each.
4.To allow MPS to standardize on filter sizes for all AHUs, filter sizes shall be consistent and based on full 24inch by 24inch or half 12inch by 24inch sizes. Other sized filters are not acceptable.
B.Quantity of Filters: At time of Substantial Completion, and prior to turning equipment over to Owner, Contractor shall install a complete set of unused, clean filters (prefilter and final filter) in each unit supplying filtered air to the building. Provide (2) sets of prefilters (one during construction and one for Owner at Substantial Completion).
C.Pre-Filters:
1.Pre-filters shall be 30percent efficient, MERV 8 pleated, disposable type. Each filter shall consist of a nonwoven cotton and synthetic fabric media, media support grid, and enclosing frame. The filter shall be listed by Underwriters' Laboratories as Class2.
2.Prefilters shall be installed in prefabricated channel rack.
3.Prefilters shall be liftout where access is available upstream of the filter.
D.Final Filters:
1.Final filters shall be high performance, deep pleated, totally rigid and disposable type. Each filter shall consist of high density microfine glass fiber media, media support grid, contour stabilizer, and enclosing frame.
2.Final filter media shall be of high density microfine glass fibers that are laminated to a nonwoven synthetic backing to form a lofted filter blanket. The filter media shall have an average efficiency of 60to 65 percent on the ASHRAE Test Standard (52to 76) and a MERV 11 rating. Filter media shall have an average arrestance of not less than 99percent on that standard. Filters shall be listed by Underwriters' Laboratories as Class2.

3.Holding Frames: ASHRAE holding frames shall be factory fabricated of 16gauge galvanized steel and shall be equipped with gaskets on all (4)sides of the filter and (2)heavy duty positive sealing fasteners. Each fastener shall be capable of withstanding 25pound pressure without deflection and be attached or removed without the use of tools.
4.Final filters shall lift out where access is available upstream of the filter.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.01 BLOWER FAN COIL UNIT INSTALLATION
A.Framework: Furnish and install angle and channel iron and welded structural steel supports incidental to mounting units as shown on Drawings. Coat steel work provided under this section with rust inhibitive primer.
B.Vibration Isolation: Units shall have vibration isolators specified in unit description. Refer to Section 230548.
C.Flexible Connections: Flexible connections to ductwork and units shall be ventglas double, neoprene coated fabric, 1/16inch thick or equal and approved. Provide instrument test holes and caps located downstream of discharge of each fan for checking and adjusting air flow. Balance fans as specified.
D.Installation: Install unit in location indicated on Drawings. Bolt sections together with gaskets installed in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations. Connect ductwork to unit with flexible connections.
1.Piping connections to coils shall be made under Section 23.
2.Condensate piping from drain pan shall be as specified in Section 232113.23, Aboveground Hydronic Piping.
E.Lubrication: After systems and equipment have been installed and just prior to building acceptance, properly lubricate motors and equipment installed under this Section.
