About The Highlanders’ Museum

At The Highlanders Museum, we are fully committed to preserving and sharing the legacy of the antecedent regiments and the modern British Army for future generations. The museum is located in the heart of Fort George, an ancient monument looked after by our partners, Historic Scotland. This remains a working barracks with the 3rd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland in residence.

Our collection consists of artefacts and items from the Seaforth Highlanders (72nd & 78th Regiments of Foot), the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders (79th Regiment of Foot), the Queens Own Highlanders (Seaforth & Camerons), the Lovat Scouts, The Highlanders and the Royal Regiment of Scotland.

These items include regimental silver, firearms and edged weapons, fine examples of portraiture, uniform and medals. The Chairman and Trustees are responsible for the collection and the Board of Directors for the administration of the business.
