Karate

By Joshua Bey II

The Karate club is a martial arts club, run by Mrs. Flesh the arts teacher. It is a club that teaches self-defense, combat, and increasing your skill level of fighting. Two of the students in that club are Sailor and Kavon. They showed me, and told me, some of the moves they get to learn including the knife hand, back fist, and assorted kinds of chokeholds. They also learn defensive stances. They have practice in the art room Wednesdays all year around. They will do a performance to show their moves and belts. Students enjoy being in the Karate club.

Character Court

By the Technology class

Character Court is special at Imagine School. This is a good thing because it recognizes the students who always do the right

thing. It helps students work harder with their respect to others and self-confidence. Ms. P told us that the character Court has been at our school for four years. The court was Ms. P’s idea because she thought it would be a good

Village for our school. Ms. P loves character court. There are 12 people in the character Court for each quarter. They choose the court based on 13 character traits. The Kings and Queens get mentioned on the announcements and get pizza parties and prizes. They get their pictures on the lobby TV. Character court Kings and Queen are role models for our students. Amon feels proud that he was chosen and very honored. His family was also proud and they took him out to eat to show their pride.

Coding

By the Technology Class

The technology classes in grades 3,4, and 5 learned the first steps in writing computer codes. We wrote a program by choosing different codes. We added motion so our Sprites could move forward, spin, or turn. We added sounds like meow. We made our Sprites change color. We made the program run by choosing an event. That means the program would begin when we clicked a flag or presses the space bar. We also learned how to add a background to our program to make it look good. Maerakle was excited to be writing her own codes. Amon realized how much work went into writing a whole program. He felt very grown-up being able to do this kind of work in class.
