Him of Whom Moses and the Prophets Did Write
I. Introduction: John 1:45
A. The credibility of Moses proved who Jesus was (Acts 7:30-37; cf. Deuteronomy 18:15; 18-19).
1. Some still put blinders on in what Moses said (II Corinthians 3:12-16).
2. If only we could have the interest the prophets had (I Peter 1:9-12).
3. Even with credible proof, some choose ignorance (Acts 13:26-45).
B. If Moses lacks credibility, there are others (Luke 24:44).
1. Abraham (Genesis 12:3; 22:18 and Galatians 3:16; cf. John 8:56-59).
2. The great king, David (Psalms 110:1; cf. Acts 2:34-36).
3. Jeremiah (Jeremiah 23:5; cf. Matthew 1:1 and Acts 2:29-30).
4. Isaiah (Isaiah 7:14; cf. Matthew 1:18-23).
5. What of the greatest witness [thought in N.T.] (Mark 1:9-14; 9:2-7)?
II. Body: All that was said had to be accomplished (Luke 18:31; cf. Matthew 5:17-18).
A. They wrote of how to identify our Savior (Isaiah 40:1-3 and Malachi 3:1; cf. Matthew 3:1-3).

2. Where He’d begin working (Isaiah 9:1-2; cf. Matthew 4:12-17).
3. Even how He’d come to Jerusalem (Zechariah 9:9; cf. Matthew 21:1-9).
B. They wrote of how our Savior would suffer and die (Isaiah 53:12; cf. Mark 15:27-28).
1. His being betrayed by a friend (Psalms 41:9; cf. John 13:18-26).
2. The price of that betrayal (Zechariah 11:12; cf. Matthew 26:14-15).
3. His disciples forsaking him (Zechariah 13:7; cf. Matthew 26:31; 56).
4. He was hated without cause (Psalms 35:19; 109:3-5; cf. John 15:25).
5. Gall and vinegar for a drink (Psalms 69:21; cf. Matthew 27:34).
6. Casting lots for His garments (Psalms 22:18; cf. Matthew 27:35).
7. He would have no broken bones (Psalms 34:20; cf. John 19:32-36).
C. They wrote of how our Savior would bring redemption (Amos 9:11-12; cf. Acts 15:11-17).
